Hey all:

I'm about to replace my filters with some K&N's. I'm worried there is too much oil b/c they come pre-oiled. What do you think?

Thanks

I replaced my air filter on a 2 series Volvo several years ago and I didn't think the filter was "oily". I have since washed and re-oiled the filter. I do think I am getting a little more power and the engine does breath a little easier with the K&N. I wouldn't worry about the filter being pre-oiled.

K&N filters right out of the box come with a little more oil than I like to see, so I take them and spray Simple Green on them and wash them real well, let them dry out and then very lightly spray the K&N filter oil on the intake side only of the filter.

I want to see a light mist of oil on the filter and thats all.

Put a light coat of grease on the rubber sealing surface and install.

Hey Denla, I thought they were pretty wet when I put mine in, but just did it, and had no problems. Besides its gonna dry out over the long haul so why not have a little extra sticky in there Later ,MOE
