    got worked=( Need an upgrade!

so on my way home from school today i rolled up to a civic hatch dropped it down to 2nd then floored it i pulled away for about 4 seconds then out of nowhere he was right next to me. at this point i was in 4th at 6k rpms. then i hear his nasty garbage can muffler and he was gone. i was going 115 so who knows how fast he was going. it was like a late 90s ugly hatch. i always blow away hondas in my town and this made me feel like crap lol. he obveusly had a swap. idk what with but without a doubt it was. so i rlly need an upgrade. i was wondering how hard it would be to get a kompressor in my engine bay. theres 2 wrecked 230ks in a junkyard near my house. any advice? i know this will get me to around 200 and i am positive thats all i needed to beat him today. i have too much stuff on my plate (visual upgrades wise) to do a major upgrade like an engine sway turbo or super chip etc.. but something small that can give me a little more umph would be great.

eh, I hate to sound mean, but that's pretty good for a c230 non-kompressor. you're driving a 3,500lb car with a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder!

not many options for performance upgrades for you beyond cold air intake system and complete exhaust kit. but with top-dollar investment on both, you're still looking at about another 20hp for around $2,000 investment. That's why the guy in the honda is in a honda. $2,000 gets him a big turbo and double the HP, plus exhaust and intake. But he's still in a honda (elitist of me, I know).

Your best bet, if more speed is really important to you, is to lose weight anywhere you can stand it. You also just slapped on a set of 17 or 18" rims, right? That's more metal and rubber = greater mass at greater circumference = engine does more work than ever to get them turning. This means better MPG because of fewer rotations to travel, but is also taxing your acceleration a bit because of the added weight on the wheels.

The best solution is to just not race. As George Washington said, "'Tis better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." Let them wonder how fast you are. Don't ever let them know...

An engine swap from a non-K to a K motor would definitely help, but I can't say it'd be worth the investment. Unless those junkyards are almost giving away those engines with turbo, intercooler, manifold, and ECU.

This reminds me of a similar story for me when I was in HS. I went to a tiny little HS in the middle of BFE. My '94 C280 at the time was the king of the road. With a 200hp straight 6, it was still the fastest thing in the parking lot, until... This one kid had an ugly early 90's hatchback civic that looked like it was glued together. I don't know exactly what he'd done to it, but it had been suped up a bit. The commute home was about 30 miles of long winded country roads. So, one day when the stars aligned we raced the entire route. I won, but just very very barely. I must have been a better driver, because the kid couldn't hang with me in the turns. It was the straights that got me. Out of a turn, we'd both gun it. Behind me, he'd be drafting, because I was breaking the wind for him. He'd swing out to pass and get to where he was just about to reach my front wheels, and the wind would stop him and start pushing him back. We'd get to the next turn and he'd brake to get back behind me and repeat the process for the next straight. I stopped racing people that day. It was really close, and thus put me on edge and I was madly determined to beat him. I could have so easily wrapped myself around a tree and died, or killed him, or caused a crash with another car on the road. Only after I got home did I have an epiphone and realize just how stupid it was for me to break 120mph multiple times on the way home from school on 2-lane country roads.

But back to reality: the guy later had his car dyno'd. He had about 150hp at the crank. Pair that with a very lightweight car and it's just not a fair comparison. One more tiny upgrade on that car and he'd eat my lunch. I love w202's but they're just not the car for racing--even the AMG's! A stock w204 C350 has the exact same numbers and performance specs of a C43 AMG. The game has changed, fellas!

I can tell you from experience my Civic can hang with my C230 period.
I don't even want to do that in my E55.

if your a4 was slow it musta had something wrong with it or was a FWD. My brother has a B5 a4 1.8TQM with a chip, Some piping, some forge goodies here and there manual boost controller and thats about it besides coilovers and some work wheels. Exhaust and some other goodies im sure i left out. and that thing HAULS. he spanks my C280 easily at any speed or from a dig. granted his is 5 speed AWD and im 4 speed auto RWD. but still those 1.8 AEB motors got a lot of get up in em.

I personally love my led sled. cast iron lower block and all ! got the last of a dying breed the 202s are great cars no doubt it has just enough power to overtake on the freeway and it never fails to make it to 100mph I mean what is the point in going faster in a 4k lb luxury sedan anyway ide rather people see me.

civic are light as hell dude, its cheap and easy to make them relatively quick. If you want to keep up you need a V8 or a turbo slapped on. the NA 230 won't stand up, it's comparable to the civic motor but our cars weigh much much more.
    Completely mad.
'99 C230K, intake and exhaust more on the way.
'86 MKIV Escort RS Turbo, stock for now, chip and more boost on the way
'75 Fiat 124 Spider, koni shocks, bigger carb and drilled/slotted brakes
to tune and hoon the mbz master race.

Yea I know what you mean. But I swear they have a little more giddyup. I love driving mine shifting it manually in and out of traffic its a great car to drive. But your right it is just a normal engine. I know you were turboing your ride how's that going? Is it all finished or still in process. I really want to see how fast they are turboed. Like a video of driving.it because all I've seen are videos of people dynoing them

That's what m104 c280 owners have to look forward to if anyone ever starts building and selling manifolds for a Turbo setup.

I know a guy who has a used log style t3 manifold for M104's He made one for a M104 W210 E320. Ive been in contact with him as he lives on the east coast, He is willing to build more.

Ive seen some performance headers on ebay before. Anyone ever try them? They were probably just some cheapo brand. But hey. Wouldnt hurt to try i guess if it works

They only got em for c220 and c230

    Or AMG
    http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...id=81153086180

That's very interesting. If I had the money right now, I'd be all about that. But which car? My beloved 1994 C280 or the wife's 1994 e320?

Also PS: I still love, more than any other material object, my 94 C280. My C43 is an unbelievable thrill to own and drive, but my C280 was my first car love. That's why she's still in the driveway awaiting restoration instead of sold or sent to the scrapper.

If I go all out and turbo the C280, I'll use my C43 as daily driver and use the C280 as killer-of-unsuspecting-M3's.
