C32 brake upgrade on W202 Chassis

I am sure many of you are looking for C32 upgrade for your W202

    Well,

Here is what I found out so far.
Originally I have ordered this kit for my friend, but since it took me about 6 month getting from Evosport
so my friend doesn't want it anymore.

So I have been doing some research for quite sometimes on fitting this on my C36.
Most of the people who have done this upgrade they have to use left caliper on the right side and vice versa, in which
resulting the caliper-piston orientation is out of order.
Finally I have a way of fitting this properly on my C36 (correct piston orientation).
    This is a bit tricky..

First of all I have to get it custom drilled for that allen bolt that hold the rotor to the wheel spindel.
    (wheel spindel)

As you can see on the pic below, I already have the rotor ready to bolt on W202/W208/W210 chassis.

But here is what you should know more before fitting this brake to any W202/W208/W210 chassis.

With this brake 18"monoblok won't fit.

The caliper with come in contact with the wheel

Although it actually looks good with them on

They however will fit on 17" AMG SLK (17x7.5 ET37) with about 1mm clearance between the caliper and the spoke.

They will also fit on 17" Monoblok II (17x7.5 ET35) just fine with about 2mm clearance between the caliper and the spoke.

I could use this brake setup with 18" monoblok but I will need to use 5mm spacer, in which I am very much against it.
    Why..?
Since with the current setup my front wheel offset is just perfect for me, and I don't want to add 5mm offset to change the current offset.
And since I like the way my car looks with 18" mono, I am not willing to get another wheel at the moment just so I can use this C32 brake setup.

For others who probably have a little more option on wheels setup, this clearly this would be the most cost effective way for brake upgrade, and also appearance wise.
Sure Brembo GT kit will outperform this brake, but for the fraction of the price, it is still a very good buy

With that being said I going to sell this kit and offer it for Club202 member who are interested on doing this upgrade.

This brake is still brand-spanking new.

I can't do this now, but I would like to sometime next year. Didn't DantheAMGman do this already? I know someone did this to a C36. Did they have to modify it the same way?

    J,

    Please E-mail me a price to Koolvin@mbclub.co.uk

    cheers,
    Vin.

So J, did you have the pistons switched? If so, how?
If you can thread the needle... and if your drive can lead to Pole Position today, history may hold a place for you tomorrow.

    Kam,

Dan use a left caliper on right side, and vice versa.
Therefore the piston orientation its not correct.

AJ I didn't switched the piston, I thought about doing it though..

    I'll let you guess,

Here is pic on Dan's car and mine car (both is pic of driver side front wheel).
I am curious if you able to spot the difference...

    J,
do you think they would fit 18" double spokes style IV ET 37? Stock there's very small clearance.

As far as any other mods needed to the brakes/rotors none right?

You are unbolting the caliper halfs and then reassembling in the correct piston orientation.

    Right?

That would be my guess as well from the pic, but is it safe?

    nope man

Like I stated earlier I thought about opening the caliper half, and re-arrange the piston order but I didn't

I think if joey can spot the difference this pic will make it clearer..

Hint: take a look at the mounting hole for the brake sensor harness now

Please let the rest of us in on the secret I really like these brakes, and if they can be fit so they work properly and safetly, and I can understand how and why, I would definately put them on my C43.

    Okay

Let me explain what I had to do to fit this on W202 chassis in correct piston sequence order

I am going to explain it with pictures, so some imagination from your end is definitely required

To start the basic is that C36 has Leading Caliper and C32 has trailing caliper.

Below is the orientation on the C32 OEM setup
Front of the car is on your left
Also the caliper that I attached SS line to is the Driver-side unit (keep this in mind until you finished reading this thread)
As you can see the smaller piston are on the lower part

Now below is what people have been doing on W202/W208 chassis
As you can see what is used to be on the driver side on W203 now it's on the passenger side
Again your left is the front of the car.

As you can see on third pic the smaller pistons are still on the lower part, which is incorrect
since the upper piston will be the rotor entrance side.
The upper should have been the smaller piston.

So far As you can see the brake lines fitting will be pointed upward on stock C32 setup and this reversed setup on W202/W208

Now, This is what I did, I am using the left caliper on my left.
Notice that the smaller piston on the upper part, which is the rotor entrance side.
Again your left is the front of the car..
In order to fit it like this the catch is that the brake lines fitting now will be pointed downward.
To overcome this problem I have to measure exacly what is the length required to compensate the bent("J"/hook shape).

I hope this clear some confussion as how I manager to fit this C32 brake on W202 chassis with the correct piston orientation.

With the way I mounted these calipers
the piston orientation would be in the correct sequence/order

which is the smaller piston should be on the rotor-entrance side of the caliper.
(the entrance side would be the upper piston

I was going to sell this kit, and plannig to get Luwins AP kit off Jason , however since the AP kit is already spoken for.
Also after some research this AP 6-pot caliper Off Luwin's car won't even clear my 17"

I think I am going to give this a try one more time with 3mm spacer...before I decide it to sell it

Now where I can get a 3mm spacer..?

    Anyone... ???

How much longer are the front SS lines than normal? I would probably have to have Troutman make me longer lines for my C43.

hahah see i knew it from the pics

now the question is are you ase brake certified to be doing this
