    When to replace shocks

    1999, C280 Sport w/ 149K

Should't I replace the original shocks with almost 150K miles? My mechanic says if they're not leaking and the car is not bouncing - its not - then I'm wasting my money.

Bear in mind, I like the stock suspension, so I'm not try wanting to modify. However, I've decided to keep the car for a bit longer and am do some maintenance. I just put new rubber on and thought to put in new shocks with alignment.

Wouldn't the ride/ performance be better with new shocks, or are the OEM shocks so good they can last this long?

Also, the right shock for my car seems to be the Bilstein B6. But it is 3X's more expensive than the comparable KYB. Any one have experience with KYB NOTE: The Bilstein B8 is comparable in price to the KYB, however it seems to be for cars with lowered susp.
