    Control Arm Bushing Replacement Instructions

    Hey, trying to replace my front lower control arm bushings. i know how to get the control arm out but what tool do i need to push out the bushings and push in the new ones?

    a special mb bushing removal and installation tool if im not mistaken.. u may get away with a press.. but the tool is much easier to use.

    took me 3 hours to fab a tool. might as well get the dealer to do it.

    chizzle the bushing on the inside first thats what a local shop did for mine once i took them off it only cost me 30 for them to take out old bushings and put news ones in

    Bushing tools from MB I think its range from $150-$250...you should be able to get the job done by renting tools from kregan for $125 and i thinks its $5 for each day of rental...and its the KIt #3 or #4

    damn, boy rocky got skills. fabed his own tool.

    mb too'ls too exp. lol. yea i might go with teh chiseling idea. or i was thinking of using a c-clamp tp push them out. i'm still waiting on my lowering springs to do a complete job. should be sometime this week.

    Chisling won't work.i tried that. It'll warp the housing that the bushing sits in.

    I fabbed my tool outta those wheel bearing casings, the ones that hold the marble like metal balls. Had to next door's exhaust cutter to cut that sucker smaller and weld a smaller casing to each other. It was a pain in the ass. C clamp is not strong enough to press it out.

    Oh yeah, hint on making your bushing last longer.


    DO NOT TIGHTEN THE LOWER CONTROL ARM WHEN THE CAR IS IN THE AIR. TIGHTEN THEM WHEN THE CONTROL ARMS HAVE LOAD. (i.e. on the ground)

    humm, sounds like a complicated tool. lol. i asked my mechanic next door and he said o just take them to a machine shop. i'll go check em out today. if i get time.
