    Tire Size

I have 18x9 all the way around my C43. I have 255 35z 90w on the back. Can I put 255 on the front also? The short story is bought them on Ebay as a staggered set, 18x9 18x8.5. They were not, seller (upgraded winner to 18x9s all around) thanks. After I bought the tires I realized the front yokos were to small at 235. Tire rack said that 255 in the front would rub. I need help.

225 should be the smallest to fit 9"

Cool, but I need to know the widest I can go on the front I want to match the back at 255. My front tires I feel look stupid with 235. I wont let my wife drive my car because I know she will scratch the front rims for the tires are to thin. Can I put 255 on the front without it rubbing?

    first of all

9 width will not fit properly (proper fitment means: thewheel under the fender and not sticking out from the fender)
on the front of W202 without modification.
It is best to go with 8.5 with on the front with ET35 (either 18x8.5 or 19x8.5)

    second of all
since the wheel we are talking about 18x9 AMG Monoblok 18" it will have ET31, and this specification is way off for W202 fronts

    third of all
for 9" wheel, my recommendation is 235 the minimum.
225 tires is the minimum on 8.5 rim.
anything below this those will have a lot higher risk of damaging the rims from curb, and weak sidewall during hardcornering (due to strecthed sidewall).

    Hope this helps.

    oh yes..

I am sorry for that, and thanks to you for the correction.

Bottom line 9 width will not work, unless you want to go with ghetto style. (wheel sticking out far from the fender)

My front wheels are not stickin out the front fenders at all. The 18x9s fit on the front of my car without modification. I am very confused about the replies. I do not see any reason why 255s will not fit. Can I put on 245s on the front? I am going to try to put my rear tires on the front and see if they rub. I actually think the car will have a mean stance with 255s on the front. Keep in mind when I bought these rims I thought I was buying a staggered set 18x9,18x8.5. The bozo on ebay upgraded me (in small print) to 18x9 all around. I have to make do with what I have. Plus I was going to make these snow rims w/ blizzacks anyway. I am doing reseach now for the summer rims. I will take pics.
So what do you guys think.

Let us know if you can drive in a straight line with 255's on the front.
My guess.........it will tramline like a beeeeetch.
Yes, I have a few mods, but they\'re so discrete, my wife hasn\'t noticed them.

    let me say it again...

the max will fit properly to the W202 front will be 8.5 width..

when I say "properly" means the wheel lip will be able to tuck in under the fender, even when the car is lowered.

Technically you could fit 9" on the front and keep the car "UNLOWERED".

    I have fitted 19x8.5 ET35 on my front with 235/35/19 and 18x8.5 ET35 with 235/40/18.

Considering my C36 is lowered and I like to drive the car they way they're built...

these 2 sizes have very very little space to accomodate more rubber...

Also for others too, please search for the W202 wheel and tire fitment on this forum.
I don't want to repeat information that's already there.

I have posted my car pic with 18x8.5 ET35 with 235/40/18.

With my current suspension setup you will see that there aren't any more room to play with.

You could find these information useful, or you could be a brave one of possible learn it the hardway

Offcourse the definition of fit "properly" is relative to different person. But to fit "properly" on my book 19x9. is not gonna do on W202 front. (you either going to stick out from the fender to avoid hitting the inner rim with steering knuckle, or you manage to get the wheel under the fender but will rub on the steering knuckle)

Furthermore in order to fit 9" width on the W210''s front (which by the way have more clearance and room) one have to get a higher offset (higher than usually 8" or 8.5" width rim)

plus with the current summer setup as it is.

18x8 ET31 225/40/18 I have to trim my inner bumper part a little bit to avoid rubbing during dop on the road.

Since these are snow rims, I guess it does not matter if I have 235 on the front. I was getting obsessive about the 255s. I searched on 9in front rims and found nothing. I'll never post anything again without a full, proper search, sorry. Thanks for the info folks. :bandit:

There has been a lot question regarding W202 wheel fitment.
If you changed the "keyword" search you would find it that 9" width is not recommended based on some experience of some members.

The reason we don't want to repeatedly post the same information is so that the other member and new member could search these information in smaller number of thread instead of having a lot of the information scattered widely in numerious thread .

Nothing against you and the question the being ask

How about 10in, just joking. Thanks for the suggestion. I spend alot of time on this board searching because the info is incredible. I just did not see anything on the 9in. This thread has made me want to buy new rims anyway. My car drives like it is always windy and it is do to the 9in front rims. I thought that a wider tire would make it more stable. I am sure I will be up till 2am figuring the best rim size. Thanks

you can run a 255 on the fornt.. but with fender modifications.. and since you are using the rims for winter.. you wouldnt want to run that wide a tire in the snow!! you'd get to where u were going faster by walking!
just remember narrower is better for winter.. I wouldnt run anything wider then a 225 on a W202 for winter. I run 225/45/17's for the winter.
