    163 Comand Nav

So I the chance to get a 163 820 09 89 comand unit from a 2001 ml320. Is it possable to install it into a 00 c230? I have read a lot of threads on the euro units... but have seen nothing on the us units. I know i will need a gps antenna for it, but is there anything else? I thought i saw a old thread on a install with a us unit but after a while of serching club202 or benzworld, i havent found it. thanks for your help! Or advice.

look in the featured stories section and search for command install. There is alot of info. And i think as long as its not the CAN-bus version your good to go.

I have been wanting to install a US ML unit (MCS) into a 97 C280. I had collected the MCS, faux carbon trim and was just about ready to give it a shot....but the car was totaled about a month ago. Now the only car left is a 94 C280, but because the climate control is different, I hink I will have to pass on this mod. the way I was going to do this is to change the wood trim to the fake carbon trim from the sport models and mate it with the trim surround from an ML to fill the 1/4" gap. Since you have a pre 2002 radio you should be all set. The 2002 radios run the sound to the amp and the cd changer fuctions through the fiber optic cable.

Well thats great info! Its interesting because my 00 c230k has a fiber for the cd changer. I was looking to retain my stock changer. What is this 1/4 inch you are talking about? is it on the side or the top?
