    '96 C280 misses at 5500rpm & up

Hey all. My recently acquired C280 (1996) misses badly when accelerating onto the highway. It picks up fine until the tach hits 5500rpm, and then just stutters & won't rev past this point. If I lift my foot off the accelerator pedal to allow rpms to drop, it picks up again, until it once again hits 5500rpm. Anyone know what this is? Its like it hits a rev limiter. But at only 5500rpms.

sounds like air and fuel issue. could be a air mass sensor, or its not burning all the fuel due to bad plugs/wires.

    whats your mileage at?

    get your code read

I had the same thing going on with my C280 a while back. The codes came back as fuel trim upper limit on both banks. I popped in a new MAF sensor and had my mechanic reset the adaptations. That was all it took. You can pick up a code scanner for relatively cheap now, or just run by an auto zone etc and they will usually scan it for you. I think there is a way to manually get the computer to spit out the codes as well. A search would probably yield it.
