    00 C230K Exhaust?

Does anyone have recommendations for a C230 exhaust? I've only read that people recommend magnaflow, but they dont go into specifics.

Should I just buy the exhaust, or should I get the piping as well? Is it a bolt on? Do I need an additional work for it? Welding? Suggested Exhausts?

    Thanks

Straight pipe. no need to buy magnflow trash.

cut off the stock muffler, it will sound like a loud g35
cut off stock muffler and resonator sounds like a rhino with rabies

every after market exhaust will need welding. and dont worry with piping and what not muffler shop will work with you.

That's horrible advice. I hope you are trolling. 4 bangers don't sound good with no exhaust, not enough pulses in the engine. Not to mention striaght pipes are likely illegal in his area due to noise. It's gonna be loud as shit.

Some real advice; find a custom exhaust shop in your area that knows their shit. I recommend doing catback, or if you want more replacing the two cats with one high flow cat and then going back. I got 2.5inch mandrel bent stainless and I am very happy. Don' use maganflow, it's pretty ricey. Get a resonator and muffler from a better company. I did vibrant performance, sounds great but their customer support is shitty at best. If you can get a muffler from them, or Borla or another good name you will be set. My setup cost about $500 usd all said and done, I've had it for a month and love it. I don't know what prices would be in your area, the best thing you can do is go and talk to them.
    Completely mad.

Magnaflow has no rice sound to it at all.. just my 2 cents.
I have had magnaflow mufflers on my w202 and my w210.. and now again on my w202. first set up was a custom cat back magnaflow on my w202.. sounded amazing. next I went with an Eisenmann Race muffler, 2.5" pipe and a high flow cat.. again sounded amazing but LOUD!! that race muffler was crazy loud. needed an inline resonator. but now that is all off and I'm back to a magnaflow muffler in a 3" inlet for my turbo exhaust (all 3" from the turbo to the muffler). dont know how it sounds... yet. waiting to get the pipes all tig welded up.

and as for my w210.. it also has a custom cat back exhaust with a magnaflow muffler.. they are nice and deep.. great sounding.
borla is probably a good exhaust as well.. probably give a nice deep sound. remus is very quiet I find.
I'd just visit a local exhaust shop, tell them what you'd like and they will tell you what you need to get done. any reputable shop will know what they are doing and offer good advice.

    Thanks Slammed and zmatt,

I'll probably be going Magnaflow, since I like what I hear (14833). I heard it on Logics and fell in love :P

I probably wont be doing anything fancy like you guys mentioned, i'll probably just get the muffler and w/e pipes it needs. I dont want to make it super loud or anything. I just want a nice looking piece of equipment for a cosmetic upgrade I suppose.

Thanks for the advice and suggestions guys, I'll let you know what I end up doing.

You can save $$$$ by going crush bent instead of mandrel. It will sound the same, it only affects who it will look. But you will want to have a cat back made. Don't just hack the muffler off and weld a new one on. The stock 202 exhaust is quite restrictive so you will only be helping yourself.

I have a Lorinser muffler I found on craigslist for 50 bucks and had a local muffler shop throw it on. The tips look like sex but the muffler itself is very big and quiet. I ended up having the resonator removed as well and the sound is exactly where I want it, with a throaty growl when I get on it but quiet when I'm cruising. Costed me a total of $110! If you want the most cost effective setup though, I would go with Magnaflow and keep the resonator, as those mufflers tend to drone on 4 bangers.

Well, I ended up getting the 14833 Magnaflow muffler for 140$, free shipping too, a good find. Getting that baby installed tomorrow and will have a sound clip up soon. Depending on what the inspection guys tell me, and a recommendation, ill get the cat backs and resonator delete or not. Thanks again for everyone who helped.
