Traction control we have. LSD we don't. Basically we want both wheels to spin at the same time, not limiting the slippage and cut power

I just did a little research.
I found a link on EBAY that shows a 190d rear diff will cross refence into my C220 US spec(I have 3.07 rear ratio, you guys with the C280's have 2.87)
I then found this link on discussion of someone putting a 190e 16V LSD diff into a 190D- I would assume from that the 16V LSD diffs are a bolt in thing into the early w202's?

16v diff works in a c43 for sure. Jake aka money_one on mymbonline/mbworld fitted this a long while back....he has since transplanted a 55 NA into his car and then a 55K. Don't think he's still using that 16v diff...think it went kaboom...eventually

On the topic of creating best bang for your buck on a non-AMG car, TURBO is really the only way to go. There used to be youtube videos of a german dude's m104 C280. He did a proper turbo and a 5spd manual gearbox. ACCORDING TO THE VIDEO, he was getting 380hp at the rear wheels. Assuming it's all accurate, that's enough to smoke even an E46 M3--nevermind a C36 or a C43.
The m104 apparently reacts well to turbos, but it's pricey as hell. Some of the parts are simply not made by anyone and have to be custom fabricated. Look at what the Turbobandit guys reached by custom fabbing their own parts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdFYcHEl9SQ
