What part is this?
I drive a 1995 C280. Lately the transmission has been running brutally so I decided to park it til I find the problem. When checking under the car I found that this yellow mechanism thats connected to the transmission fluid pan was sealed using some silicon/glue by the past owner or what ever shop he went to. Does anyone know what this yellow mechanism is and what it does?

maybe this will help, not for sure what brutal is to you but if it is shifting like a race car here is what i found on mine. I drive a 96 c-280 one day it started shifting at higher rpm and slamming into all gears. I found on the driver side their is a small vacuum line that the trans recieves vacuum from the engine. A little mouse had taken the privalage of chewing a hole in the line. Upon replacing it the car started shifting fine again. Just a thought.
