90,000 Mile maintenance

Hello everyone, well I just brought my car in for my 90,000 mile maintenance and I have several stuff to fix. I was wondering if you guys know where I can purchase the parts for a cheaper price. I went to the folwing websites below and they seem very similar and it connects to a central database. Well heres what I have to replace and the price quotes my mechanic gave me.

Head Gasket $950
Air Pump $750
Shifter Bushings $70
Motor Mounts $330
Front Shocks Leaking $490 Would it better if I just purchased Bilestin shocks instead rather than oem?

Lower Control Bushings $525

Some of those prices seem pretty high. What year and model is your car? Also, are those prices inclusive of labor?

To give you an example:
I had a shifter bushing replaced. Part cost $10.
Motor mounts for my C43 are about $75 each.
I paid around $450 for my Koni adjustable shocks.

Also, I have one side for lower control arm bushings. Brand new and unused, $30 +shipping. Note: you will need two sets, and I only have one.

Its a 94 c220. These prices don't include labor.

Looked up some things:
Head gasket set = $75.74/60.30 depending on VIN
Air pump = $150 remanufactered
Shifter bushings = not sure if these are correct, but ~$1.50.
Motor mounts = $96.91 for L and 87.21 for R.
LCA bushing set = $51.89/54.89 depending on VIN
Front shocks $82.73 bilstein.

edit: until they update you in their system, the prices you see as a guest will be more than the prices as a register buyer. Typically a few % cheaper.

Check on ebay, I got my motor mounts brand new in mercedes packaging for 90 shipped for both and I was able to get a bushing for the control arm for 35 dollars shipped also in mercedes packaging.

Not knowing your mechanic, my first thought is: are all these parts really in need of replacement?
Now, I trust my mech. because he doesn't rush in to change things and his prices are very low. But, it is common knowledge that service depts. and independent garages perform work that is uneccessary and frequently over priced. So...I recommend getting a second opinion. At the very least, you may find lower prices and if you still want to use your original mech, you will have some bargining power.
BTW, I use these guys for parts. Good prices.

For front control arm bushings, think about going polyurethane. They're on ebay for $50 each.

at about 90k that sounds about right.

I'm about 7K mi. away from 90K tune up and I'd be very surprised if I need any of those items.
To be sure mine is newer (1999), w/ a different engine (Aluminum block and head 2.8 liter V6), and Sport suspension (which uses heavy duty upper control arms and Bilstein shocks like the AMG) but essentially has the same miles.

As I said, unless these items have been symptomatic for a while, I'd definately get a second opinion. IMHO:classic:

Ok is these cars need this much work at this mileage then they are garbage!

How does a head gasket go at this mileage? Is there white smoke coming out of the exhaust?

Actually it is very common for the I6 to have head gasket problems. Something to do with the design. I am not too sure about the V6....
