Lowering the center of gravity absolutly helps cornering ability.
Take a look at Formula I race cars. It's not just for areodynamics that they are so low to the ground.But good point too. However as you may have read in one of my posts, I was told by Jeff a long time ago, and proved it to myself through trial and error, the W202 suspension geometry has its limits to how low it likes to go to work efficiently & effectively.
