what is the difference in using the 7, 8, and 8.5? Is 8.5 the best one to use?

Usually bigger is better depending on quality,the 8.5 will have a thicker insulation (8.5mm) than the 7mm,this usually equates to a higher insulation resistance which in turn helps keep the voltage similar at either end of the lead and provides the best spark your coils will allow...

Edit:Because the potential difference(voltage) is high in an ignition system,good insulation is critical to make sure current doesnt exit the system via the insulation to the grounded engine thus starving the spark plug of the energy it needs to ignite the mixture.

im not exactly sure why companys sell so many sizes,it could be the cost of the silcone or restrictions on what fits through OEM lead holders...
