UPDATE PAGE 4

well here it is. one of my completed projects, only one side has been done since I figured if I screwed up id only need one new headlight.

I have to switch to using H11 bulbs instead of H7's. this is an only H11 bulb I had around, it is stock but when I see this project 100% complete I will upgrade to Luminics Ultra Violet H11's.

now the Angel eyes were a pain doing the oven part, took me about 20 times to get it right with one of these clear wands broken! the Blue LEDs are the only ones ive had, just ordered 100 of Ultra violet LEDs.

No lens,

Stock OEM lens,

Angel eyes have been taken out until the new LEDs arrive!
stay tuned till darkness falls and see the beam pattern!

08-08-2006, 08:59 AM
Thanks! clear lenses I know I know! LoL to make the eyes heres a link,

http://www.geocities.com/crx_auto/eagle_eyes.htm

for the projectors, I found a set of broken headlights from a new GX470 at a wrecker yard, since they were completly broken they let me keep them since they would have thrown them away anyway, so I bashed the broken headlight until I was able to get the projector, then sorta trimmed that and fitted that in. used Epoxy to hold it.

Dremel kit is the tool I used for basically all the work!!

I like them, I think they look pretty cool. BMW have angel eyes or halos, I don't think they're rice. And don't tell him to lose it, if he made a choice to make them and put them on it's his choice. I would do the same thing if I had projectors.

And it makes his car unique from the rest of us. This is the 2nd 202 I've seen with angel eyes.

you guys I understand the fact we all have differnt taste, I agree they do look Rice with that blue in there but not to worry it will changed soon! ;)

I have people that know people and those people, they also know other people who help me! :D

... LoL I got a frend in construction, I asked him if he had any Idea how I can duplicate a glass lens into a clear one. he told me there are a few shops that will do that I just have to go to each one talk to them and see what comes out of it.

UPDATE: I found another set of smaller projectors ... should I go double projectors/angel eyes on each lamp ??

97C28O
08-15-2006, 11:41 AM
Your gonna put the smaller ones into the place where the High beam is? Will it effect it? Or you going to use it as a low beam?

rollinrealbig
08-15-2006, 12:48 PM
if I put smaller ones into the high beam place I will swap it and use that as a lo-beam and the bigger projectors as the Hi-beam.

You should think about somehow filling in or covering that big void by the projector. other then that, i like it, the eyes will look good.

I have a question for you guys,

my lenses are plexiglass, I dnt want them to fade (even though I can get replacements easy and cheap) I am thinking of buying film to cover them and prtect from fading/rock chips.

question - what color film ?? there is smoked, light blue, clear and yellow!

I am thinking yellow for the hi-beam part ??

make it look sorta like those Old 300SD. ?? what do you think ??

97C28O
10-18-2006, 04:29 PM
Where did you get the clear lense? I thought you had the stock ones. Did you get an new headlight assembly? Nice mod, can't wait to see the angel eyes.

therock2689
10-18-2006, 04:30 PM
I would say clear. Where did you get teh plexi lens, i have been looking for something like that???

rollinrealbig
10-18-2006, 04:40 PM
plexi-glass lenes I made myself. very very easy and cost $25

I bought 3mm plexiglass put it on top of my stock lenses and put it in the oven - it melted and formed my OEM shape. installation is same, the clips dont hold it on, but something else does so it stays in place and ive tried slapping the lens while the hood was closed - wouldnt budge. I drove around today, bumpy roads + the way I drive, they wouldnt move. :)

so its still my stock headlights. no I didnt buy any other headlights. the thing that pushed me into doing this is I got in a little hissy-fit, and my glass lenses where kicked out. tomarrow is my driving test for my lisence > dont think it would look good if I rolled up with no headlight lenses. I made these really quick. they turned out nice.

therock2689
10-18-2006, 04:43 PM
they are just so clear, i love it, i just might do that. At what temp did you put it in and for how long???

rollinrealbig
10-18-2006, 04:47 PM
350. but ... you cant just toss it in and let it do everything, when you see bubbles forming around the edges you have to take it out - cool it down a few seconds while its still hot you sorta forn its shape with your hands. then put it back in and do this a few times. after your done you cut off the edges with bubbles since the sheet of plexiglass is something like 12" X 24" ive screwed up one sheet of plxg. like that.

Thanks, you think with 2 or 3 ppl, you can get it done in a shot or 2. And do you put it on like a cookie sheet or just chuck it in there.

rollinrealbig
10-18-2006, 05:44 PM
I did it all myself. no you put your OEM lens on the rack and set the Pglass right on top - it will start to bend and form by the time your oven preheats!

IMPORTANT!!! make sure you put everything in the oven THEN start pre-heating it, that way the OEM glass lens wont crack. I dnt know if theres a chance it may or may not but I just did it that way.

anyway, no Angel eyes for now, my dremel tool ran out of cut-off wheels and I wont have time to do much until next week. ill update you guys on that later.

I mounted the projector by cutting out a bigger hole so it sits in it, then Cold weld around it, its on there like a rock!

I pulled out the projector from Lexus GX470.

hey men those headlight are coming out graet !! so i got hyped and try to mold the lens also,i tryid it like the link that frechi gave but it did not work ,the plexi would not stretch enough so i gave that up then i tryid it by putting the lens in the oven with the plexi on top it molded nice but the plexi kind a got some spots you guys know something about this
its not the whit spot ist transparent

rollinrealbig
11-16-2006, 04:54 PM
The air bubbles ?? Yea ive had that happen to me ... I dont know why it happens but mine did that around the edges, you cant even see it from the outside though. I dont really know how esle to help you out about that ... maybe thinner Plexiglass so it stretches over with less heat ?

aruba
11-17-2006, 06:00 AM
no its not the air bubbles its kind a like a clearcoat that is pealing btw i used the 3mm plexi and it says that it is anti yellowing did you use something like that or just a regular plexi? il take pics and post them so you can see what im talking about.
thank for the reply

rollinrealbig
11-17-2006, 02:38 PM
yea I used similar plexi.

mine had protecter film on both sides maybe you forgot to remove the protecter films ?? ... ?

aruba
11-17-2006, 04:05 PM
na men, i removed the protecter cover i tryd it again but now with a lower temp setting the stains are not apearing anymore but the plexy is hard to mold on the edges how did you manage that??

rollinrealbig
11-17-2006, 05:54 PM
I dont know ... I didnt have any trouble besides the air bubbles but I managed to get past that .

aruba
11-17-2006, 06:41 PM
ok ill try tomorow again
its kind a hard but it will be done!

rollinrealbig
11-17-2006, 06:54 PM
its worth it too!

how much are you paying for a sheet of plexi ?? and what demensions ??

aruba
11-18-2006, 07:19 AM
im paying 50 florins witch is about 30 us dollers for a piece 4 by 4 feet long, here in aruba everyting is a bit more expensive:confused: im going to try it again later but with a larger piece hopefully that way it will strech a lil more on the edges. so wish me luck!!:D

rollinrealbig
11-18-2006, 10:04 AM
