Well i've decided that I want smoked corner lenses....and I have some practically new clear corners on my car.

Just wondering what people's opinions are as far as tinting the clear corners with nightshades or something similar

Thanks in advance

I would leave it clear if its the Bosch.

nah, they aren't bosch. when i recieved them i was a bit unhappy with how "clear" they were....they're just some regular old ebay knock-offs that don't match the headlights all too well.

Well, what color car do you have. If its a lite color,, like white, you can do it, but not to dark. If your working with something dark like black, you can go pitch black. I like it, i dont like smokes headlights though. Here is a tutorial on how to do it right with niteshade, not the way its on teh bottle, it tends to bubble and sh!t the way it says on the bottle. Just dont do it with Niteshades. Get that stuff from Japan there is a brand Ill have to look in my garage. from my experience works much better than niteshades and leaves it nice and glossy

Ive worked with nightshades, very easy and I like what I see,

I tinted the tails on my w202, the tails on the w203 and I met some guy who wanted this done to his volvo so I charged him $40 for the work/paint. can was empty after that. I would definatly buy it agian when I need it.

yes, i've heard bad about nightshades and good about the JDM stuff.

but i've also found a thread (that has been posted here a few times) with an alternate technique to using nightshades, rather than the instructions on the can.

it's standard painting, scuff, paint, wetsand, clear, buff.

another way is getting that tint film, which is 100% reversible. it actually protects your lights from chips and crap like that. Ive never tried it though. nightshades worked for me - no sanding just clean and paint.

Okay, picked up a small can of "Window Tint" spray paint from the hobby shop.

Sprayed it on and it was a bluish tint... so to get rid of the blue, you gotta make it darker. So I ended up with almost black (but still good looking, not PITCH BLACK) corners, and i sprayed it down with clear.

I tried to buff one of them out super shiny, but it ended up making a mess of the clear, so i cleaned it up and re-cleared it. By then the sun set and it got cold, not too sure what exactly happened, but it's like FLAT BLACK now and cloudy, like matte finished.

Gonna try to sand it down again and re-clear in the sun, if that doesn't work then I've got to sand them all the way down to the lens again and pick up another can to redo them.

Either way I'm happy with the results (once I get them both glossy smoked)...and they don't contrast the headlights too bad b/c I painted the inner plastic trim black (thanks rollin!)

I'll post pics once it looks normal again....lol...

$25 shipped is fair, but it is broken. sure, it functions properly, but the fact still remains that it's broken, and not new.

Yeah, i had a hard time wiht it, but i'm overall pretty happy. they are darker than i planned, but it turned out nice. I sanded down the other lense, recleared it, and now it's fine.

Overall i am glad i did it, saved a couple bucks (which turned into an hour or 2 of work) but it's custom, all me. No one else has the same lights, and that's what I'm all about.

I'm still trying to figure out where to go with this car. I came from slammed trucks to a german luxury sedan. Gotta figure out how to be original and still keep my hot-rod custom influences without turning the prestige benzo into garbage.
No flamed paint or 22" chrome here....or monoblocks or roof wing...

lol the corner i fucked up on actually turned out better since i wetsanded the shit out of it and re-cleared it. i might re-do the other side sometime.

I'll wash her up (it's been about a month) and take some pics later this afternoon when it's not 923 degrees out.....and add them to my gallery.

They totally look cool, but they do have that oddness to them that I didn't like when i saw smoked corners on other people's cars....the contrast between them and the headlight. In my case, it's a huge contrast since i tinted them so dark, but at the same time it looks really good against the black paint.

It's so dope it's wack!

hmmm.....

got my Nite Shades today, used 1 can already (got 2 cans)

After smoking them with the hobby shop stuff for r/c cars, it had a bluish tint so i stripped them and ordered up the nite shades.

must be the lenses cuz this time its purple! Fuck dude, blue is better than purple, but i'll stick with this. I'm going to throw in some amber bulbs (currently clear) and hopefully it'll look cool.

pics to follow

i see your clear corners also gave off a purple hue when sprayed with niteshades.

i tested on white paper, it came out gray/black. also my taillights did not turn purple so it must be the clear corners.....hmmmm....
