It feels like it engages but won't move. In the weeks past it has hesitated when engaging in rev. Any thoughts on this issue.

You could start by placeing the car nuetral and make sure it rolls backwards ok. That will make sure the brakes are OK. Are all the forward gears includeing first OK?

Yes all the forward gears are good, it feels and sounds like rev engages but no movement and it wil not roll . Neutral rolls free, I am guessing rev is out and I wonder if anyone has been through this to let me know if the whole trans needs to be rebuilt or can rev only be repaired to keep cost down.
