Ima order some 19" 3 piece fully forged WORK Meister S1's today and i need to be final on colour...the two choices i like are Gunmetal or silver with polished step lip...
as there custom they take 6-8weeks from Japan.

Heres a shot in silver and black, there 2 piece though...

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a372/hciviceg/Picture117.jpg

Heres one in gunmetal...three piece too...the ones im getting however will have a 90mm rear lip and 70mm front,so im not planning huge brakes on the front...i like lip,and we can always get another front set later in life if we do get a BBK.
http://www.work-wheels.co.jp/wheels/index/mst3p/main1.jpg

Im thinking too much silver...
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/3/web/735000-735999/735658_92_full.jpg

reason for the change is performance/looks...there close to 3Kgs each lighter than my milanos...and im going to change to 225 fronts for better clearance, even less wieght, have thought about going to a 9" rim and stretching the front 235 onto the rear...but maybe not so good with the increase in HP im expecting.

Anyhow let me know your comments on colour(colour only!,unless its positive;):D)

I am kind of leaning towards the silver...I just think the whole dark with polished lip look is a little played out.

Fair comment man!,however i sort of feel like i need a break from silver...can always re-paint the centre any colour later also...hmmmm.

I would go for the silver ones.

Gunmetal, it would add some contrast to all the silver on your car and regardless if it looks played out theres a reason for that, it just looks good! =) Go with your gut.

well if your up for repainting them i would go with a hyper black with a polished lip since you have a silver car. i think that would look hott but that's just my opinion!

I was surprised at how many people chose silver here and on amgpower.com when I asked a similar question.

I didn't want to go too dark myself. My personal preference is the middle color here:
http://images18.fotki.com/v24/photos/2/296054/3053068/K58_lighttodark_smaller-vi.jpg
(you can't have your brightness too high and contrast too low on your monitor to see the difference)

But when I get my rims back from Kinesis I expect they're going to be the color of the right-most one tho; I was told the Anodizer they use probaby couldn't do the middle color.

Is there a 'color standard' you are referring to that I can use as context in posing the question of Kinesis?

Interesting for sure...i just called my paint shop and they said theres no commen numbers for all paints...just between the same brand...so im wrong on the numbers theory...
i may just have to get a colour chart...but how does the guy in japan know exactly what colour i want!....hmmm and then theres the fact colour charts are very hard to pick colours off as they never look the same once applied...
I would have thought there was a colour standard...or MIX standard like 304 blue plus 567 yellow gives 120 green etc?!?!?!

nice!! wWork wheels huh.. win some money dude!! jokes..
well if you had a black car id say go for the really black rims the
g35 has.. but since your car is silver id say go for a lighter colour then black.. but not silver.. you need a slight contract on your wheels.. so the gunmetal type finish.. or slightly darker.

I agree with whoever said black w/ polished lip is a fad, and one I think is going out. if you're going away from silver (which looks SO good on your car), i'd stick with the gunmetal, mate.

p.s. I still want your Axis rims. real bad.

paul,
i like the ones u got for now. but i do understand the need for a lighter rim. i am there with ya. mine weighs 30 pounds+ each and it's killing me slowly.
i like the one c55m8o offered. let it not be too dark, while still keeping a decent contrast between silver and whatever u got.
my $0.02.

Pagz
08-22-2006, 11:54 AM
your 0.02 is appreciated;)
it looks like its ~dark metallic silver for the colour...which is where i really wanted to go...i think i just needed to cancel out the plan silver idea!...

Woa 30lbs is a heavy rim...my rears are 26lbs and 25lbs front, the new ones are around 19lbs and including the real HP killer-the tyre...the rears are up to around 57lbs each!...hence the thought of going to a narrower tire on the back and front!

well dont break the bank too much dude!! house is more important then a set of wheels!!
but good on ya for finishing the car before the house buying begins!
I say stick with a light gunmetal or light black colour for the wheels.. make a nice contrast to the silver of your car.
I think the bronze colour would work on a blue car bertter then a silver car.. maybe swing it with a black car.

Pagz

yeh man house is far more important!...cant wait to get this over with and back on track...iv still got issues with the piston rings...and i just got shafted on the TB...but hopfully the supplier will give me back some of the lost money as he has said
:long long story:...iv change my attitude towards the automotive performance industry...I see it in a new light:cool:...now when somone says it will cost 100,i automaticly give them 300 and say dont worry man i know whats coming....then when i order parts i just pick them blind folded as i know they will send the wrong one regardless...

Anyhow...onto the goodish news, after taking half the day off to attempt to fix the rings problem...i called into Mag&turbo to discuss the possible colours and hopfully pay the deposite...however after an hour of looking through books i still wasnt set on a colour....then i found these...in gunmetal...and i think this is what i want...so ima go with gunmetal.

I'm not gonna lie. those wheels are pretty damned hot. also, I know what you mean about cars. i'm hot and cold about the industry/cost, but if you think about it, cars are the second largest investment you make in your life. to get them exactly the way you want them, it's not going to be cheap (especially for a mercedes!). cheer up, mate! just keep your mind on the projected result.

c55m8o
08-23-2006, 06:12 AM
Don't have 2nd thoughts. IMHO the gunmetal on a silver car is a lot 'nicer' then black. I don't mean to dis anyone who runs black inners on their rims with silver cars, I just don't like it very much @ all. Aside from the silver car / high polish lip / black centers that aren't to my taste, I think with most black centers you loose the 'shape' of the rim's centers/spokes very often and can't make out the rim. I don't like the "polished lip floating in air" look that results, and is the basis for my opinion.
Again tho, JMHO .... ;)

Thanks for the input guys,i was tired last night when i posted...after a good night sleep im back on track...just deciding weather to have the front wheels suited to big brakes or the OEM's????...hmmm...the diffeference being a loss of lip and a more curved spoke for bigger brakes...but will i ever do them...im not sure...

Cheers Dev!...

I put pix of mine up. Very much like the gunmetal, just no 'superfine flake' that I think gunmetal usually has.

Yes.. house first!!
what the hell happened with the TB?.. and still piston ring issue.. any word from JE about it?
Honestly.. I say get the wheels suited for big brakes.. you will seriously need to upgrade them if you are going to be pushing 300hp!!.. you need C32 brakes or something mang.

hey mang,
lol where to start....its some long long storys!...i'll add it to my next reply;)

today i ordered the wheels!....and i ordered them to clear the C36 brakes;)!...however there is an interesting twist...I could only get them in +30 front and +29 rear...its going to look alot wider!,we have decided to stretch the 235/35 onto the 9.5 rear and run new 225/35 on the 8.5 front...and if it rubs on the rear which im sure it will i'l take to it with the rubber hammer...
there should be a 83mm rear lip and a 45mm front...so about the same as i have now on the rear and alittle less on the front due the BBK clearance!...

Actually I got them to clear a 332mm GT brembo Kit just to confuse you more!;)...so im not sure if they will clear C32?!?!?!
yip where going to try stretch the 35 profile onto the 9.5!!,it will look pretty stretched for sure!,the books say it should be alright...but we wont know until we try it...it would have been definate with a 40 series...

Well yeh that makes sense!! so you got them to clear the Brembo kit huh!!.. well thats a nice kit.. but pricey!
I would think that the wheels should clear the brembo kit and the C32 kit also.. not 100% sure though.. but the Brembo kit may be larger?
thats gonna look crazy.. the 235/35 tire will no doubt be able to br steatched onto the 9.5" rim.. but just be careful with hard cornering!!.. dont need to be grazing rims off the road!
yeh bro.. alsmost on the way!.. gotta get this kit in! I think Im gonna cut the springs 1/2 coil up fornt and 1/4 coil in the rear before I do anything. then I can adjust how I want it to sit.

Im not sure if i'll ever end up with the GT kit,but the option is there now i guess,im fairly sure the C32 kit is about the same size!...

I seriously recommend you upgrade the brakes if your going to be running anywhere near 300hp on that car when its finlly done. trust me.. you will have serious issues with stopping otherwise.
I woudnt doubt if the C32 kit is the same size as the brembo kit!!

I think the kw kit lowers 25-75mm.. so Im thinking ahead by cutting the springs slightly!!! you think I should just put them in and see where it sits before I cut?!

Yeh its probly worth it huh!,iv been in contact with a local brembo supplier and they gave me the full spec and every dimension possible for the calipers so that we can have minimal clearance, max lip on the front!...
I think DEFINATLY install the kit as is,wait till it all settles and ajust a few months down the track...i think you will be happy without cutting that flashy new kit!!!;)

YIP...there step lip....do i sense some negativity here:D
Im a bigger fan of step lip than i am reverse,as i have reverse now and i find it too plain for the setup im running...but you know me i havent exactly followed the herd on this car;)

oh hell yeh its worth it.. get brakes.. they will stop your car with that 300hp!! my buddy witht e C-coupe and the Brabus motor.. he was running stock brakes.. he always complained he coudnt stop!!.. car was way too fast.. so I put C32 brakes on his car for him. no problems now.

Sup Logan,
The whole deal's been a bit iffy!;)...I really dont know what colour they will be when they arrive!...It may look good,it maybe crap!...if how things have gone for the past year...they will turn up 15" in blue,100x4 and -29... :Paranoid:
iv been as careful as possible to get all the specs for the GT brakes so the disk is a tight fit with the caliper and we get max lip...and we can always change colour later...it didnt cost anymore to choose gunmetal...the all silver benz needed some contrast!.

I think i'll hold onto the milanos until the new wheels are all on then flickem for what i can get!!?

yea, they still make spacers too!
but after saying opposite i have faith in your tuning eye and the gunmetal will end up looking good, and fair call about the all silver thing.
haha yea knowing ur luck they wont get here for like 5 months be well over twice the quoted price, and then not work properly, and then youl probebly leave a key out when installing them :D
haha - its all gud tho :D

DAMN!!!!.. $6000... WHAT?!! I can get them over here for like $3500 or something.. why so much your way?
yes definetly.. I wish I had been more aware of brake clearances when I got my 3 piece lowenharts.. would have got somehting that can clear HUGE brakes!!
I may have to get some new wheels!! but dont know when that will be.

yeppers!!.. I would say almost 3" drop.. if not a 3" drop!!.. Im just worried about it not dropping enough when I put it in.. I only have shop night once a month at work to work on my car.. so Id like to do it the first time and have it sit right.. I figure Im going to have to put the adjusters at teh max low setting.. but if I cut 1/2 coil off the front and 1/4 coil off the rear I can adjust them to about the middle of the adjuster and have them with room to move either way still.
Im still keen on cutting the springs!

Yeh not cheap depending on how i get them here!...iv found them for around 2780USD(4343NZD) without frieght and the possible tax issues!!...so it'll be a while until they end up on the 202.

Its your call man,i guess thats one way to do it!...well...you know what i think:D

WOW!1.. thats expensive for those brakes.. any cheaper to get the C32 brakes?.. then get aftermarket rotors in 2 piece floating design? yeh I can see why the Brembo kit isnt on the list of things to get right now!!
lol.. yeh I know what you think!.. Im still keen on cutting them though!

Sweet.. those wheels look pretty dope dude.. I like.. the step lip is growing on me now!!
