I was looking at the 2 heads they apear the same and the intake valves are the same but the exhaust vavles on the 2.8 are 31x7x103mm the amg 3.6 is 31x7x103.5 Do you guys think it is posible to have the head machined for the .5 bigger exhaust valves? Has anyone here done this? If so any more preformance? The reason I ask about doing this is im going to be running high boost in my car and it would be nice to have the exhasut breeth a bit better...

Head design is complicated, bigger valves do not always mean more HP,but in your case (800 HP) maybe it will...

I dont see why the head cant be machined to suit the bigger valve if need be!,Im guessing thats what AMG do to the M104 head??...

I believe the 103mm/103.5mm dimension is the length of the valve. The increase by .5mm may be due to the fact that the AMG head uses a different cam profile (higher lift) than the stock 2.8 head.

I could be wrong, but if you were to use the AMG head with your stock cams, then your exhaust valves would remain open by appox .5mm when they should be closed.

Your added benifit would therefore be with the use of the complete AMG head package, head+valves+cams, or at least the valves and cams, if there are no other differences.
