View Full Version : IMPORTANT, M104 Demand for full long tube stainless header?

Hello everyone,

I haven't been on the board for a while b/c i've been busy with my E55 AMG but I wanted to let you know I just got a good contact for a header manufacturer and I was seeing if there is a legitimate demand for a good set of M104 headers or the C230k engines. The headers would be full long tube stainless steel headers, the price would be around $250 per header. I just managed to single handedly bring a set of BMW E30 headers to the market so this could easily become a reality but I need two things. First a set of bekkers or long tube headers from another company. Second, I need to see if there is enough demand (I need at least 20 people).

Edit: this also applies to 4cyl 230 komressor engines.

well I would assume this would be done in a vrus fashion, so we would need to get enough people to buy the proto headers and then the cost of the headers themselves, if anyone knew where we could get a cheaper set of headers or something better that would be a plus... I would assume with enough people it would not be too much more than 250, well not more than double if we could resell the headers on ebay or someone in the group would get them to put the cost back into the pool

here is an example of a few of their other headers (for M3s). They are very high quality stainless steel long tube headers...

Oh fuk yeh id be in for a header for M111 W202 Kompressor 2.3L.

thats it!!!.. $250 for a header?!!.. thje superspring one is like $700!!
so these would be equal length headers then?.. i like the sounds of it. full stainless steel too?

i would absolutely buy headers for my c230 Kompressor

edit: hell, i'd probably buy two sets, one just for modifying down the road for a turbo project

Hey guys,

I have already convinced a manufacturer to bring out a header for ALL the 230 engines. but nothing as of yet for the 6cyl. it depends how the 230 headers do. I have a bunch of other stuff I am trying to convince manufacturers to produce for us benz guys, I just wanted to see if there was legitimate demand for the product. anyways i'll keep yall updated

you bet! the headers themselves will most likely fit ALL M111 blocks (94-2003 c220 and c230s including the 1.8L) since the bolt pattern of the exhaust manifold is the same if i recall correctly

one thing i search for everyday is cost effective performance parts for our benzes mine specifically the C280. The market is lacking and the owners are showing interest. A manufactuer could capitalize on it.

If all the bolt patterns are identical it will work on all of them then.

I am currently trying to develope crankshaft pulley for the V6/V8 motors thats why im looking for people who are willing to test it. If there are any legitimate serious takers lemme know. PM me

get them headers made for the M111 Kompressor motors!!..
if the build goes through for the header.. can we specify different pipe sizes for the collector?

no its pretty much one size fits all.

Right now the performance crankshaft pulley has me alot more occupied. That should be the best power maker for all the MBs.

I might be in for a set for the M104 depending on quality. I'm a little skeptical on quality for $250, hopefully they are nice.

if you could make an aluminum one similar to the kleemann kit, i'm soooo in. i like the fact that ASP runs the SC pretty conservative, but i don't like the fact its just a modified OEM steel pulley, and they require a core return ($300) for it.

Someone needs to start doing something about the i6 c280

the lack of mods is pissin me off

why cant we just modify bmw, skyline, toyota parts to fit?

omeyhomey
09-26-2006, 01:23 PM
the problem is lack of demand. There are maybe 20-30 people tops even willing to do serious mods. I am trying to do headers & pulley for M104 but there is no demand thats the problem.

Could you send us examples of other headers this person has done, to see the quality we are looking at? Thanks

i did at the beginning of this thread.

If there was enough demand I would do a crank shaft pulley as well. The only problem is I would have to do runs of 50-100 pullies and If i can only sell 20 its not economically viable. thats the problem.

I'm game for a set of headers and a pulley. Possibly 2 sets.
If you have any pics and any numbers on the gain, it would be appreciated.
How many people are in so far?

Hey guys,

I just brought a new set of headers to the market for the E30 bmws. I wanted to show you what they looked like. As you can see the quality is nothing less than stellar. I have a manufacture that is more than willing to make them but you guys need to find some demand for them. If i could get 20 solid guys then it would be worth while and I could go ahead and make a set of the headers. You want me to get a list started? anyways here are the pics

realistically if production numbers are this low it won't be $250, it will probably be around $350-399. Only if it was 100+ could I get it down that low but for numbers this low its gonna be around that price. still its much better than the $1800 for the bekkers headers.

could we get it heat reated for like 450 or 500?

Again thats probably another 6-12 months in the future. First I am going to see how these crank pulleys do. If they are a success then the rest will be a piece of cake. Anyways I'll be keeping yall updated. Prototype process starts tomorrow so I am excited :) :D

Ok lemme talk to the manufacturer see if he can do it. One problem... he needs a set of the bekker headers :( or at least another header out there to replicate. lemme know

Hey guys,

I really need a picture of the stock headres in the stock engine bay (Basically take a picture of your engine bay on the header side. close up high resolution picutres are preferred).

I have VERY good news but first I need to see how much clearance there is on hte 202's engine bay side. On my S320 i could fit a whole new engine block on that side of the car but on 202's i know its alot tighter.

The good news is I may be coming out with a high performance bolt on header for the M104. It will be a shorty header that will bolt to the stock catalytic converter section and gains should be around 8-10HP. Cost should be between $399-499. I am trying to keep costs as low as possible so you guys can finally have some awesome mods for your cars for cheap. Anywyas I need pictures of your engines bays!! :) some keep em coming. thanks guys
