screw the pipes!

Why hasnt an after market company made a better, more durable MAF sensor, prephaps more protected with a mini filter or something... ?

I just say that as a result of seeing some dirty oily like build up when i cleaned mine.. in the lower pipe below..

and the same sort of thinking on a panel filter, why has no company made a filter that is made up from micron fine mesh aluminum/copper fins, which would act as heatsinks, but I apreciate half of the filters job is probably a mufler...so you have could have half the fins aluminum/copper and half the fins rubber/whatever they normally use.
this would certainly give some kind of performance advantage, and sound a tiny bit more sportier surely all while keeping things standard

They have sort of its called a "OIL Catcher & Breather Filter"

# Catch the oil and moisture in the blow-by gas that causes carbon and sludge build-up in the intake system and the engine, especially turbo car.
# Keeps the engine clean even under hard driving conditions

Other makes refer to the "Oil vapours" which i can now understand why my intake pipes were the way they where, is the little black square shaped thing the stock catcher / filter ..?
if not what is it?

also here is a nice chrome intake job on what looks like a proper kompressor..

i really like the subtle changes you did under the hood! just need to fab up a pipe to change your MAS to a horizontal position where the chrome intake pipe is, and you'd be set. hell, i'll go 50/50 in it with you if you want to make two of them :D

ok thats not my car, it is a car from the MBfanatics.org "exclusive 202s"
its is very nicely done the quality is second to none and the braded ac pipes == nice too. props to whoever you are :)
ok rollingrealbig, cleaning the throttle body is only one part of the equation for me, if I was going to undertake it now i would be looking to clean the intakes with this aledgid "Seafoam" - Intake cleaner or some other type, as well as fitting a oil catcher/breather

By doing so i hope to keep the air in take pipeing cleaner and lessen the oil gas's & vapours traveling onto the electrical contacts & resistor inside the MAF.

But i have a feeling our car has a perfectly good one already, but you may of noticed that the little pipe going into the rocker cover leaves a little oily build up at its base, ive got a feeling that little square cartrige like thing it goes back to is it..

Thanks bud! Thats exactly what I was looking for dimensions and all. Im using just a mini filter at the moment and I clean the oil off of it about every two weeks or so. After a search I found that these thing are all over ebay. I was planning on fabricating one myself until I saw this.

I'm on it. Ordering one tonight. I'll post pics when it is done. Also, when the car was ripped apart for the S/C installation the TB in mine was also pretty dirty. The breather line in stock form went right into the TB..which seems dumb to me. Is that for emmisions???

Anyway, pretty soon no more mini filter cleaning.
