Yeah I did searching for over an hour and couldn't find what I was looking for so I'll ask the question. Without getting into a bunch of custom install stuff, where's the best place to put/mount an amp for a sub in the trunk? I just don't want it on the back of the box anymore. It's too much shit to unhook everytime I need room in the trunk. My amp's pretty small so there wouldn't be a whole lot of space-to-fit-it-in problems.

since you only have one amp, mount it upside down to the rear deck right under where the first aid kit goes. then remove the first aid kit and you will have plently of cooling for the amp. i had my orion 1200D mounted that way for almost 6 months. it never overheated NOT once on me. but when i bought my second amp (Planet Audio VX2004 4 channel), it was hard mounting both there so i mounted them on top of the box. i removed my rear deck speakers but the surface is not flat meaning i couldn't mount both on them! with the once amp under the first aid kit, all you have to do to remove the box is unplugg the speaker wires going to the sub. i used quick release connectors to make that easier. that way all connections in the rear of the amp stay put and all the adjustments were in the front.

I had my one Apline 4 channel amp monted on the bulkhead(dividing part from rear seat to trunk until i get my sub and its amp. Now i have all 3 amps monted infront of the amp more for show kind of thing. But on teh bulkhead i never had a prob. there isnt to many place you can get in troublew with, maybe teh engine bay, but what kind of retard would do that???

Thanks for the replies guys, but I got it. I put it in the plastic spare tire well. It fit perfectly in there and I was able to mount it down in there with some self tapping screws enough to where it ain't gonna move.

I can see some heat problems with that i think. it doesnt have anywhere for the heat to really go. i would put it on teh bulk head and if done right, you can make it look stock. drill teh amp to the metal part of teh bulkhead though the plastic. Then run all teh wiring between the plastic and the metal and then thoguh the plastic to teh amp. It will look super clean and almost stock. Try it, it cant hurt.

Why dont you mount it where the stock Bose amp goes, ie on the driver side wheel well underneath the carpet in the trunk?

I'm still using the Bose amp. So far I have not had any problems with overheating where it's installed now.
