I just finished installing my new water pump (mb#104-200-33-01-88) when I realized there is an extra port for a water line that my 1995 C280 does not use. The port has two threads for 2 screws (one on each side) of the hole and an o-ring. I need a cap or some way to close this port. The attached picture shows an aftermarket pump that already sealed the area I am talking about (the arrows point to the port). I don't have the original water pump so no luck pulling it from there, but I don't even think there was a cap with screws on the original pump. Need help fast as I just need to plug this port.

the thread size on those screws/bolts are most likely 6X1mm or 6X1.25mm so find some of those and try them out, as for the cap, if you dont find an OEM one, you'll need to fab something up.

The Dealership will have a plug for the hole that you press in, it's part of the retrofit of the water pump. Just call the dealer, they should know exactly what you need.

I went to the dealer yesterday and talked with the parts guy for 1 hour and he could find nothing. If anyone knows the part# of this "retrokit" please let me know. The parts guy gave me a picture of why the port exists (water line to a heater in some models) and brought out a gold port plug but this port is bigger and has 2 screw locations. You can see the flange with oring at #164 in the pic.

I found a picture of what I need and Meyle seems to package it along with their water pump as a "adapter kit". The metal plate with 2 screws in the lower right of the picture is what I need (or something like it). If anyone knows where I can get this or a part # please let me know asap. Car is undriveable until I get this.

I had this problem when replacing the water pump 3 years ago on my 94 C280.

What I ended up doing was taking my water pump back to the place where I purchased it and went through every water pump they had that year for a 94 C280. They are NOT all the same. And I have no idea why.

We took my old water pump and compared it to the 7 or 8 different water pumps they had in stock for my car. Eventually we found one that was identical. Problem was solved.

Perhaps this helps, I hope.

that is the line for the oil cooler. I dont think any US models came with it since I have never seen it on any car I worked on and the dealer never asked me for that either when I would order the parts.

That seems reasonable. :dead:

I changed the water pump on my '85 chevy monte carlo. cost me $33.00 + core. I even got the gasket sealer included in that price..

Alright, so there's a part number for "cooling water."

I did my entire water pump job myself for the $200 cost of the water pump. Replaced nothing else. Unless you count the "coolant water" that came from my garden hose and the $9 bottle of antifreeze I didn't put in until winter (6 months later).

I never trust any financial advice from the dealership. They wanted to charge me $5k for the job I just did for $300 in my back yard.

I totally agree with Sulaco. I got 2 qoutes from 2 local MB dealers and one was $859+tax and the other was over $1200! After I found the correct adapter plate and replaced the thermostat my total cost was also around $300.

I just went to www.autohausaz.com and checked those part numbers.

the "cooling water" 110-200-05-15, is actually a themostat and the "joint" 211-330-03-35, is a ball joint. (for a pump install) lol.

:werd:

I guess "nut" 202-990-08-51, are my nuts. :Pirate:
