Hey guys,

I just put in my new plugs and wires a few days ago. They have been working fine, however I now notice a LOUD ticking sound my car did not make before. Any insight? I have included a vid I made of the noise, you can here it if you listen carefully. By the way, I have a 98 C230 with 82,000 miles. Thanks

edit: Damn vid isn't working...if someone with knowledge is interested, I can email them the vid...just pm me your email

I have one under the hood as well, but you can hear the sound better with the hood closed...

update: I took off the cover once again, and the sound is only coming from the last plug (closest to the firewall)...the one with a coil pack on it. It is a very loud ticking coming from what I believe is the coilpack. Any ideas??? Here is a new video of it:

gas mileage has dropped slightly.

god, that sounds more like a rod knock.. check your oil mang! haha. try pulling the coil off, and reinstalling it. may not have seated properly when putting it back onto the new plug, and it is arcing to the plug over the gap that may be there. it sounds wishy-washy but that was the very same problem on my old '83 honda CX650-Classic motorcycle ;)

re-installed it, put silicon spray on everything, no dice - I am changing my oil this weekend maybe that will fix it?
