What are the best spark plugs for a non SC 1995 C220? I understand no platinum for SC cars, but would platinum be best for this car?

i really like my NGK iridiums, but they were like $13/each, and i run them on my C230K even.

definitely not platinum!!! if you have it in your engine, take it out now! it will dramatically shorten your engine's lifespan. if you want perfomance plugs, go with beru silverstone, beru ultra-x or E3.

Are you taking about my platinums??? I will put iridiums in tomorrow if you are serious. Or just stock bosch 4648 or whatever it came with. Im shooting for 250,000 miles.

if your stock plugs are not platinum, then dont use platinum plugs.

I have 206,000 miles, and I don't think the plugs were ever changed. I still get 30-31 miles per gallon, but it's time for a change.

platinum plugs operate at a very high temperature, which if your engine is not built for, is dangerous. I know this because I made the same mistake with my 95 C280, after about 6 months after installing bosch platinum +4, the compression dropped from a healthy 185psi on all cylinders to about 150psi across most cylinders, one of them was actually at 145psi. so unless an overhaul is in your plans, Id suggest you stay away from platinum plugs.
as for iridiums, I cant comment on them because I have never tried them nor have I done any research on them simply because they never interested me.

I swapped my bosch platinum +4 for the oem bosch F8DC4. No difference in performane or power. This thread convinced me to change out my platinums back to stock. They had 25,000 on them and 2 were pretty burnt, nothing major. More isnt always better.

I tried out Denso Iridium (IK20) from my local sparepart store. some how, the temperature seem shooting up quite fast, dun feel any difference compare to FD8C. so do some checking in the web, found out the correct plug for W202 is IQ16, i re-order.
tell you what it is superb, you can fell the power. i haven have the chance to monitor the FC. give me a few load tanks then i will conclude the result.

not to sound dumb, but what brand is the IQ16? Denso? or Bosch? and was your car supercharged?

I put NGK iridiums in my 1995 C220 about a month ago. I'm very pleased.

Paid $6.99 ea at Kragen Auto parts.

I'm thinking about replacing my stock wires with Magnecor 8.5mm. Would I see any difference in performance?
