hi fellaz this is my first post in this w202 forum. i have a 1994 Merc C200 diesel here in Lithuania, middle of Europe. since ive bought it this summer i love it. its fully stock, except the Vogtland sport springs that ive installed yesterday :) the question would be was the outside termometer in the dash put in every w202 as a standart and mine doesnt work, or did you have to pay for it extra in 90's ? :)

heres my merc (photos were made before springs install, wheels are planned this Spring and some other misc mods.)

and here's my dash with black display in the place of outside termometer :( any suggestions? thnx.

by the way, i've read most threads about the SRS light. Everything was OK when i bought the car - it turned on for ~ 3 sec and then went off. but since i installed the security system it usually went off after approx. 3 min, and now it stays on all the time :( i know the airbags are in their places, so i just need to have the codes reset to fix the problem or is there anythin else ? thank you for the patience once more.

Sorry for the Off Topic but, you bought a car with 245.000 klm ? WOW

:) no prob.
no actually when i bought it it had 220000 km :D just that ive had some journeys to germany and as its a daily driver km's grow up very fast. well, 220000 km is approx. 137000 miles, and as for a 12 year old car its even not much. my friends '97 BMW 730d has 330000 already... and its good to know that its the actual number of km's, because half of the cars here (i dont know about U.S.) have speedos with turned back digits (i dont know how to say correctly). i mean sellers turn number of km's back to for example 160000 kms to have the car sold more quickly, and if u see a 10 or more year old car with only 150000 kms on the speedo u can 90% say that it isn't it's actual mileage because its impossible for a daily driving not to have ~ 18000 km's done in a year... unless u use a car just for weekends to go to the church. well, i hope u got my idea. sorry for bad english too :)

Being completely turned off, means that there is no power going into your lcd temp display. If you had your speedo taken out for some reason, or the previous owner if its been like that since you bought it, then try to take it out again and check the sockets behind it, or if you re not a Do It Yourself (DIY) guy, take it to a repairshop and they ll do it for you. If the problem is out of reach you might have to buy a new cluster set, * it goes as a whole, but you can program it in the dealership or elsewhere and change the Kms to the current amount that you your old one was.

As for the SRS failure, take it to a mercedes repairshop and have them plug your car and read it out. Hope I helped.

Outside temperature gauge was an option in Europe. Put your VIN here http://www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/?lng=eng

If it doesn't say anything about it, you don't have it then.

PS. 250 000 km is nothing, my ex-W124 200 D had over 500 000 and was still in excellent condition.

there's also the possibility the bulb for the backlight of that LCD panel is burned out, or does not have a clean contact.

do a search for LED cluster, and you'll see posts by frenchy that shows how to remove your cluster very easily. you can swap a bulb from the mileage into the outside temp to troubleshooot, but if it was an option in europe, the first thing i would do is verify you have the sensor in the front bumper (looks like a small wireless antenna for a desktop computer).

good luck!

Your car doesnt have one fitted as standard, it was very rare for cars of that age to have them.

Check here for a HOWTO fit one.

thanks for all the replies!

yes BBW, youre right, there isn't.

ive taken the speedo out and found out that there's a hole instead of the display unit that is showed on the url you gave :( and i suppose its quite hard to find where to buy such temp kit here. but ill try to do so cuz the black square instead of lcd kinda makes me nervous while driving, plus its always nice to know the outside temp :)

and i suppose youre right Greek for buying the whole cluster instead.

thank you all.
