...but how do I get to the sparkplugs on a 95 C220?

I know I have wiring harness problems, and I am trying to clear a CE light. I bought a ScangaugeII, and it seems to work okay with my '95. I was able to get some codes P300 P301 P302 and P303 which are random firing errors, and then firing errors for cylinders 1, 2 and 3. I would guess the place to start is with the spark plugs.

there are 4 screws/bolts that hold the spark plug cover(the one on top of the valve cover, its outlined). just remove those and the coils and the plug holes will be under there.

Thanks. That's tomorrow night's project.

I will post my results with the ScangaugeII and my quest to vanquish the CE light long enough to pass emission.

If I really hit the accelerator, I will go into Limp Mode, but it is easy to clear and fairly easy to avoid. I certainly could live with it, but I do have to pass emissions.

The car runs very well otherwise, starts easily and get great mileage.

In checking other posts, it appears that removing the sparkplugs on a C280 is a tricky job, and that a special tool is required.

-- Is this true, and does it apply to a C220?

V engines are hard to do tune-ups on, the inline ones are easy.

you have a I6. it takes 6 plugs and very easy to change! it's a good idea while your in there to replace the wires also and the resistors under each of the 3 coils. you can get the set of 3 wires and 3 resistors for about $150 from the dealer...idk what aftermarket prices are as i always use OEM dealer parts.

They've got quite the selection. I just stick with Bosch. Dealer is almost exlusively Bosch, in my experience at least.

Sorry don't laugh but where is the plugs located under? Pics with highlights would be best.. I don't really know much about my engine. just ordered an intake and might as well order some plugs and do it the same time...

left of your oil cap, there is a cover thats secured with six screws, under that cover are the plugs, coils and wires.

another related question...

Does the black plastic air intake tube over the top of the engine need to be removed before you can remove the cover and get to the plugs (on C220)?

If so, is the air tube secured to the top of the engine in any way? Or just connected to the TB?
