Electrical Problems, Startup, Stereo, High Beams...

Hey guys, my Stereo keeps turning off and on... Today i had a tough start aswell, and my stereo kept turning off and on in 3 second intervals non stop. THe lights don't seem to be dim, so i doubt its the battery, as everything else works fine.
Its a '94 C220. The radio turns off and on on its own, like the power attenna keeps loading up and dropping down on its own aswell. I just noticed yesterday aswell, that I lose use of my high beams aswell...even the high beam light doesn't illuminate, let alone set the high beams on, but after driving for awhile, it starts working the odd times.

Today, I went and got my battery tested today as it was still under warrenty, and I was told that the battery is fine. I was told it has to have a min. charge of 9.6 and mine was 11.5 or something. This didn't surprise me as my lights light up fine, and theirs no dimming.

Anyone have an idea what's goin on?

What's the voltage when engine is running?

Sounds like the computer thinks battery is dying. Then it automatically shuts down any unnecessary electical equipments.

check your alternator...or maybe your wirring is completely shot, since cars prior to 98 have that problem..

THanks for the responses. When I turn the car off, oddly the stereo works fine, its only got its mess ups when the car's started. As for the engine wireharness, it was already changed a couple years ago and that should no longer be an item of concern. When i got the battery tested yesterday, I was told the alternator has to be good as the battery still has great charge.

So that's all that has been diagnosed, but the problem is still there, anyone have any more ideas?

The problem has been corrected.

After $220 dollars of labour, the car has a re-soldered OVP, and it is fixed. Works fine, high beams light up, car powers up on cold starts, not vibrating and shaking, transmission shifts flawlessly, the electric current is good, check engine light is gone and the stereo works again as does the power attenna. Turns out such a small relay messed up so many things on my car that 2 indy mechanics gave up and said it has to be the ECU....I hope this thread helps everyone with these problems and saves them expenisve diag. time.
