Hi guys,

Ive search the forum for hours and cudnt find my answer.

heres the deal, i thought it might be a good idea to swicth my spark plugs. One of my friend who drives the exact same car as me (97 c280 v-6) told me to get the BOSHE platnium. I checked with an auto shop and they told me that platnium plugs such as the boshe 4,2 and the NGK Iridium plug are built for high performace cars and if i use it on mine, my engine will eventually die out very quickly.

So my question to guys is:
1. is it true that the boshe platnium/ NGK iridium or same kind will inflict negative damage to my car?

2. If yes, what sparks plug should i get as i dont feel comfortable with buying the cheap ones.
3. i heard those platnium ones improves performace horsepowwer, and milege better than the cheap pnes, so if i do go with it is it a bad decision?

thanks in advance

a 97' C280 didn't have a V-6 engine. it came with a inline 6. therefore you shouldn't use platinum plugs as they did not come with it. personally i like the OEM bosch plugs and the NGK V-Power plugs. i have used both on my 95' and had great results with both. the NGK's can be bought at any NAPA auto parts store (a few dollars each but worth the money...don't let the cheap price fool you). the part number on them is #7938. i know Nenad likes to use BERU Ulta-X i think. i haven't tried them yet but the bottom line here is STAY AWAY from platinum plugs.

97 c280 is an inline 6 not a v6, and I use ngk plugs and they have worked fine for me, and I have had them for over 20k i also have the mag core k8.5 wires...

NGK Iridium
Denso Iridium

Which is better? And yes a 1997 C280 is Inline 6 not V6.

I could not say which is better, but I know NGK Iridium is used by brabus for all their cars...

Yeah I just swapped out my bosch platinum+4 for the oem bosch F8DC4's. No difference in performance or gas milage, just read a post about not puting platinum in a car that didnt come with it. The car is a 96 C220.
