I'm going to get a set of 17" Monoblock Aero II's for my 99 C 280 Sport. As I understand it, the C 36 and the C 43 have a staggered setup with 17" 7.5's on the front and 17" 8.5's on the rear, so that is what I'm going to buy. I would assume that this setup is more than ok to run on the C 280. What I need to know is what the widest tire size I can run on the front and the rear rims (staggered, of course) without any issues? Your help is appreciated.

225 for the front and 255 for the back are widest you can get on without any problems.

If I decided to go 18", could I run an et 30 front and an et 39 rear?

would rub bad up front. if you're referring to the 3-piece s-class style, you can mill down the hub center part of the wheel to fit a C-class

edit: i take that back. 7.5" up front is close to stock width

It's ok, I went with ANG Style III's 17 X 7.5 front and 17 X 8.5 rear. 235/45 front and 255/40 rear.

Not trying to make you nervous or anything but I had to grind away a good portion of my rear fenders to get 255's to stop rubbing.

H&R spings/bilstein/ #2 pads

Thats the current setup on mine and it rubbed pretty bad. The upper part of the rear fender is already rolled which works. However, where the rolled edge meets the sidemolding the fender lip flairs back out. Under heavy acceleration when the rear end squats, my tires ripped the sh*t out of that fender section and it was all bent and stuff. I had to use an air grinder and take about 1/4-1/2 an inch off that section. I lined the section for grindign so it would still be straight and look OEM. I had the body shop do a quick spray down the raw edge so it wouldn't rust as it's exposed metal.

I'm curious to if yours rub also. Many report no rubbing with 255's.

I should be OK. I have Eibach Prokits which did not drop my car as much as H&R's would have. I think that's why you have rubbing issues. Another member on here who is selling his C 43 Mono's said he was running the same setup on his and had no issues, he was lowered as well. We'll see what happens when they get here.

davis(or anyone else that knows).
If you do not mind me asking. Where did you find the 17" AMG monoblock II's? I really need to replace mine as 6 years of killer potholes, & curb bumping has really taken their toll on them(yes, they are original to the car).
I cannot find REAL 17" Monoblocks anywhere. The 18's are all over but the 17's are almost non-existant. I just want the standard sliver w/polished lip.

Do not even mention the dealership. :D

Thanks for any help.

I don't have Mono II's, I have Style III's. The best advice I can give you is to keep an eye on ebay and eventually you will find what you want. I found mine at literally the last minute.
