check fault codes, probably AMM (Air Mass Meter)/ MAF (mass air flow Meter). Check forums or google on how to clean your AMM or MAF. I just replaced ours on a C280 with that exact problem. Good luck, Mark

now, it drives fine, but when i hit 4K rpm, the car then acts as if it is missfirings, the whole car shakes. and doves not even move, the car is then undriveable, the whole car shakes untill i turn the car off for 5 min, turn it back on it then drives fine, until i hit around 4K, will will either hold back and the the engine makes a poping sound, or will act as if it is missfire and shake

Time to head to Autozone, PepBoys, etc. to ask them to hook up their code reader and see if you can retrieve some codes.

Had this problem with 2 Volvos and my C200. It's defo the MAF. Well almost certainly. I'd take a chance and replace it and save yourself the expense of getting your codes read. The symptom your getting is most likely due to the ECU putting your engine into "Limp home mode". It does this when it's concerned about the engine damaging itself. Once you replace the MAF the associated fault code will disappear after 2 or 3 sucessful starts and stops without the fault appearing.
Hope this helps.
