Oh yeah, I searched and found a ton of stuff. Check out this link to the parts section where I found the wiring diagram. My question is the latest post.

I did it the old fation way with test light and alot of time, but my HU broke so it was never going back in anyway. I think if you go 2 radio shack or something you can get pins you can use and just mod up the harness the way you need it. I think thats what you need, if not clear it up a bit and ill be glad to help you out.

New HU is in, It's a JVC with a small 3.5 display for DVD's and such. I'm amazed at how simple this really was. I think my problem was that I was trying to figure out the diagrams and wiring without first looking at the radio and harness. Once apart it was very straight foward. of course a few ?'s though:
1. The telephone muting wire says "ground to activate". I simply spliced this wire into the harness black ground wire. Is that ok? and what is telephone muting??
2. The speed sensitive volume wire was not used. I figure the new HU wouldn't be setup for that right? It didn't have a wire for it.
3. The HU has a green wire with a red dot on it indicating parking brake, so it gets a signal of some sort indicating it's "not moving" so that DVD's can be watched.
I tried splicing it into the amp/ant signal wire-blue w/white line and that didn't work.
I then spliced it into the illumination wire-orang w/white line. This method worked, driving and all. Then I turned the lights on, and it went out.
I just wonder what kind of signal it needs, what would the illumination send it to make it work with the lights off.
Does it need to be grounded??? yeah I suck with questions......

1. I dont use the phone mute, i have never really found a use for it.
2. The parking brake thing, just ground it, and you will be alright
I just installed that HU for someone and thats all i did and works great. If you have more question, please PM or just post up on this thread

Okay I have a 99 E320 and bought a kenwood HU. Bought the VW Harness from ebay and plugged it up. Still have the amp plug from the car left hanging so there is no power to the amp to get sound from the speakers. Can I tap those amp wires into the harness or is there a harness I can buy that will help me without having to bypass the amp or replace all the speakers (as suggested by circuit city)?
