i have been researching this intake for the past couple of days and thinking off getting it for my 1994 c280, does anyone on this forum have this intake installed and if so can you please show me some pictures, because on their website it says the intake 308-113 is for 1994-2005 mercedes v-6, mine is an I6. so pictures of the actual intake would help before i spend 150 bucks.
thanks,

Good timing. I just received a notice from UPS today but i wasnt able to pick it up. I'm pretty sure its my intake. I'll post up next week when they redeliver!
Can't wait.

You can always buy the ebay ones.. if you dont want to spend 150$ or you can custom make one but a CAI would be best.

I have made my own custom one that i like very much. I had to do it custom because i have a 230K and no one makes an intake for that. RIght now i have it set as a short ram, but i can(and will soon) drop it down in teh CAI. I just dont want to get watter up into it. Does anone have any suggjestions on keeping water out?

Here is a pic of mine.

Search my username and custom CAI...I used an AEM bypass valve to keep the water out.

crap got a letter from DMV for smog check, not gonna install the intake for a week or so, so be patient!

Can anyone tell me how to remove the airbox?

Unclip the clips and pull the box upward? Is there anything else i should remove like that passage between the headlight and grill? what about the buttom part where it covers part of the bumper for air?

I ripped all that shit out and yes, the airbox just pull straight out the top, not top hard. Srry ot hear about you smog checks though. Here in Fl we dont do that.

I have heard AEM's new non-oiled one is the best

Cold air-intakes are only good if you want more volume of air. The air intake sensor is located over the engine and engine heat will affect that reading. Mercedes come stock with a cold air intake through the grill, meaning any other one has to draw nothing but cold air or it will not work as well. I have a scangaugeII hooked up to my obdII and it reads intake air temp. while driving. It usually reads the exact same as the outside temp display on the dash. The biggest extreme was when it was 104deg F and the intake temp was 112deg F. Just stick with a k&n box filter in the airbox, it will provide the most mileage, volume and "cold air"

THANKS, i have a KandN filter in the stock air box, i think that after i did that it made the engine sound different , now whaen i hit the gass and it goes all the way up to redline it makes a high pitched whine like a supercharger its awesome sounding.,also in the stock grill there is a shield blocking the cold air inlet, would there be any hydrolocking problems if i cut the holes out to create a ram air effect? the shield is in the top left corner of the grill

here

the pics are in the midlle of the thread, couldnt figure how to just take the pictures off the page

i got a K&N cone filter it ended up sucking hot air, so i just got the old filter back in...really pissed me off

how did you cut it out? or did it come like that, over the past week in S. jersey its been raining crazy never seen it like this. i think i might cut it out and make a removable shield for when it rains, my friend has a custom dual cone filter ram air setup on his 2001 firebird trans-am he fabbed up a shield to protect them from the rain,
that does stink, our engine bays get so hot
i say just get the k-and-n or a green performance hi po drop in filter you really dont notice much except for a slightly cooler sound
oh just noticed you had one already!

that looks like the 50 dollar one from ebay. no offense, i guess its mostly the filter and the pipe making the high price, quality looks good though, it looks like its going to suck in hot air. good look with it put some pictures up of the install

True but i'll give it a try.. You can get an eBay one if you want but its around 80$? for a pipe you can get at homedepot for few bucks and a $30 intake. It's up to you, I hope mine works out...

And for sure i'll take pics of the install or final results.

i couldn't agree more. even a brand new K&N with factory oil killed my brand new MAF.

dont ever use the oil maint. filters on a W202 guys, the MAF is just too prone to failure due to it!

therock2689, im thinking of doing the same warm intake mod to my c280 as you did to your c23k, but i was wondering does the MAF/MAS pipe suck in air all by itself or does it wait for air to enter it via the airbox holes? what i mean to say is if you cover up your grille hole and just let your car suck in only hot air will that damage your engine? the part i dont understand with these WAI intakes is that the cone isnt directly connected to the tube in the grille hole, so doesnt the cold air that enters just scatter around the cone filter? or does the filter suck most of it up before it dissipates? the reason im asking so many questions is that once i commit to doing this mod i dont want to damage my engine or ecu os something and get that damn check engine light or get the check engine light to turn on or the car might start shaking. im just concerned whether these warm air intakes give the engine enough air to work properly. i would ask mercedes if its ok to install aftermarket cone filter but they'll tell me the same thing that this stuff wasnt built for the w202 so it'll mess it up. basically i wanted to know how this type of intake affects the engine in any adverse way, thanks for your experience on this

I run a so-called WAI intake on my 23k, and, yes, there is a considerable loss of power at low speeds, as the intercoller isn't at its top colling capacity, and air is not being forced into the engine via pressure generated on the front of the car while moving. It sound very cool though, except for the air brake soundingish BOV thing.
