I was thinking about perminantly instating it but I cant find a decent place & no sunroof :(..
my goal is to have...
BT GPS - this way any one could in theory jump in with there own satnav enabled Pda & phones and just get on with it..
BT HU
and the thing is I bet the head unit makers will drop something with a integrated ..bt gps..
2x 802.11 AP's client & bridged - for you techys that care ;)

I've been using bluetooth gps with my pda for about 6 months now. TomTom navigator is the software on the pda. Love it.
I've also been looking at lots of integrated bluetooth head units - looking for something that I can use for hands free phone conversations. Unfortunately, nothing really fits the bill:
1) Alpine's hands-free apparently sucks, doesn't let you dial out, and doesn't display caller ID. Plus it's an extra/optional component.
2) Pioneer's hands-free is integrated and apparently works a bit better, but the SQ on the head unit itself is crap with high S/N ratios and THD specs all around
3) Sony...yeah, like I would ever install a Sony head unit in my car
4) Motorola hands-free car kits are amplified, and would need to be wired directly to the output speaker of choice (kind of ghetto). Plus, the little shiny control pad basically invites thieves into your car.
And so the wait continues...the industry should be ashamed at how slowly they have adopted this technology.

yes!! theres just allot of jagger rocks on the BT route.. like having a decent size lcd screen, decent audio specs, bt profiles, the cherry on top would be SD+USB and importantly integrated microphone in the hu..
i thought more about my statement and having the bt gps in the hu would depend on a external arial but ive seen guys fiting a bee sting style gps antenna for a command unit..
woot! I was beging to feel alone on my bluetooth adventure

I put my bluetooth GPS receiver inside of the top portion of the arm rest and it picks up sats and connects to my HP iPaq 45xx without any problems at all.
I got the hardware and TomTom software all for $189...can't beat that!

one thing is last time i checked most bt audio chips were capable of only 22khz! which would explain shabby SQ.
