I own a c43 with 60k miles. I replaced my stock amg shocks with bilstein hd's and the ride quality is absolutely amazing. The front hd's look identical to the amg bilsteins ... but the rears are yellow. As crazy as it sounds I think the valving on the replacement hd's is better than the stock amg's and much cheaper. I kept the stock springs and ride height ... but I am using 18" e55 wheels.
Wow!

Are there other types of Bilstiens available besides the HD and the stock ones?

Well there is the bilstein sport for shorter lowering spings and the bilstein hd's for stock height. They have the same valving.

Thats incorrect, there are the HDs, then the B6 sports which are same length as stock, but stiffer, then there are the B8 sports which are shorter and stiffer, I have owned HDs and shorter B8s in my old 190E and the sports were a lot firmer. Ditto with my C280, going to put B8 sports into my C36 when I can afford it
