guys, if you check around ebay, they are starting to have custom intake kits for less than 20 bucks. what is the deal with that and do they even work? coz i heard alot of people here make their own with good and high end filters like k and n.

so if possible, can anyone just explain what r those intakes from ebay?

I think I know what you're talking about and those are just K&N cone filters.. they're not custom for the 202 theyre just short ram bolt on. As far as I know you can't get a cold air intake for our cars unless its custom fabricated.

We don't sell the eBay intakes so we wouldn't know. Also, I believe there is no 202er's here have the eBay intake. Most are custom fabricated. There is lots of threads on intakes. I have Weapon R Secret Weapon Intake. And yes they are only short rams.. No one makes cold air intakes for 202s

Why bother with one? Are you flowing the limit of the stock one now? Putting a metal pipe in a hot engine bay will not gain very good results. It heats up quick & takes longer to cool than the stock pipe.
I modified my stock filter box, because that is about all that is needed because of VERY small opening at the front of it. I left the tube that goes up the the grill so it still gets frontal air(the small opening into the box. I just dont have it on the box in the pics). & I cut two holes on the bottom of the box. The results were immediate. I do infact get better gas mileage and better idle, MAYBE a slight increase in performance( it does accellerate a bit faster).
All it cost was about 20 minutes total with my dremel tool. I do not see the need..other than the bling factor to add a CAI to an MB...unless ofcourse you are doing alot of performance work.

I made my custom and i do like it and feel a difference. But the heat soke thinf is true, i have a Scangauge 2 hooked up when i shut down and then start soon after there is alot of heat soke, but im going to heat wrap it and that should make a huge diffence on that. but at speed, the intake temp is about the temp outside +~3 deg. Even at full boost, it might only go up about 8 deg or so, not bad for FI and a crappy i/c.
