Friends C280 Wont start

Hey guys, my friends 97 C280 wont start... What it does is when you turn the key it'll crank two or three times then sounds like its about to turn over but does not -- it won't continue cranking. Fuel pump relay is ok I'm wondering if its the fuel pump? or if it could be something else.

the crank sensor went out on mine. This had similar symptoms - it would just keep cranking but not start. Got it fixed (around $600) and is ok now.

The thing is... it wont keep on cranking it stops after two cranks

Same problem with my c240. Did you guys find a solution? Jump starting didnt change anything for me
