well my cousin fixed up my car the second he got his car back in 1997. he has two subs in the trunk, amp behind that, 6 cd changer in the glove compartment. and a headunit all from 97. well the head unit is getting really old and the bottons are getting a little messed up. i have to press volume up like 20x for the volume to go up one bar. ive been looking at new head units on ebay and they are pretty cheap. my question is if i get a new head unit, will it still be compatable with all my old stuff like the subs, cd changer, and amp?

i was looking at the panasonic CQ-VD7003U or pioneer AVH-P5700DVD on ebay its only like 500 bux for brand new. circuit city and best buy is a rip off.. haha

The amps/subs/maybe cd changer will be compatible with a new unit. If he has a separate amp for the door speakers make sure you get a head unit with multiple RCA outputs, I always go with 3 RCA outs (Front, Rear, Subw). Yea Best Buy and Circuit City do charge alot for the flip up touch screens. My Kenwood KVT-715DVD was $500 on ebay and its sweet!

Best of luck

Mark

Edit:

PS: Unless his equipment (amp, speakers, subs) are really good.. I'd consider updating them. Memphis makes amazing subwoofers you can find those on ebay for a decent price.. Amps also I'd go with Memphis or Infinity and door speakers I would definately go Infinity. -- Just my $.02
