Ok, well im just going to come out and say it.. the stock speakers suck... well maby not the bose ones but the ones in my 96' C220 do.. I will be moving the HVAC unit to the coin change location, or in my case to the tape holder location. Im still looking for a good head unit...
My questions are:
1) Does anyone have a walk thorugh on moving the HVAC unit..
2) Will 6 1/2" fit in all 4 doors easily without having to worry about water getting to them from the window seal? And will standard tweeters fit in the top dash..
3) best route to run speaker cable to trunk without interference from power/ groud cables.
I did some searching and found alot of going back and forth and am just lookign for info, i have done installes before and know exactly what needs to be done.. Just like to do my homework.
just get a good headunit with a good EQ. the stock non bose speakers really arent that bad.

well since you said that...obviously money isn't a concern cuz focals are expensive - so go with the focal utopia's and u won't be disappointed. 2 other great brands for speaker, subs, and amps are CROSSFIRE and PLANET AUDIO.

Well i just bought a 42" Plasma, so now money is an issue for me. Im 18 and work part time and am in high school. So i have head good things about diamond audio, my friend has a C55 with 2 diamond audio subs and they kick hard.
I was thinking the D661A's for the front and D661I's for the rear. And im not sure what im doing for an amp yet, i have a Power Acoustics one but it diddnt seem to impress me in my old car. Im going with a nice amp rack in the trunk so any suggestions on a nice 400W x4 amp that looks somwhat nice for display.

for the price that diamonds cost i would personally stay away from them! i just installed a set of the D661's in my friends car and they sound okay but nothing really special in my opinion. then i compared it to the crossfire X5's in the front of my car. these are discontinued now but they still make the X6's (6 1/2 inch component set). my are tuned perfect off a 4 channel planet audio amp and they scream hardcore. i went with crossfire speakers in all doors, planet audio big bang sub, planet audio and orion amps and alumapro caps. definately look into at least a 5-Band Parametric Equalizer so you can fine tune your speakers and subs to the extreme max!
your gonna get different answer's from everyone as each person will have their own preference. so when it comes down to it...it basically what you want!

one of the best clarity sounding speakers i've ever heard are RAINBOW's. very expensive but so worth the money! they have many different lines from a few hundred dollars all the way up to a few thousand dollars!

here are kits of their low end speakers (still excellent quality though) made for the 202.

i constantly cruise ebay for QSD series MQ-Quart components. after listening to so many different stereo systems, these speakers never seem to stop impressing me.
