I just bought a 1995 C220 with 160K and good condition, I was just wondering about what gas i should pump, the previous owner used to pump 89, is that good enough ? or should I go with 91 octane ? 87 is sure off the list.......lol

before my benz i had a 96 civic and pumped 87 all the time (haha)

only premium should be used. however, you can use 89, but make sure your engine speed never exceeds 4k rpm's.

I run Exxon premium (down here it's 93 Octane) most of the time. I run Chevron 89 octane with Techron every fourth tank (as I was instructed to do so by the MB dealer after taking it in for a cylinder misfire cause by a bad tank of gas one time). I never have any performance or engine part failures as a result. I talked to my SA over at MB Boerne a while back and he said they run 89 octane gas in all their loaner cars (2005-2007 C 230K's/C 230's).
