View Full Version : Where is a good place to place the ground for my amp?

I dont even know where to put it... Right now it is on the same beam as the batteryground... is that a good spot? Where did other people put theirs?

The battery will be fine because it's very close!

Many times you hear people say to always ground to the chassis. That is mainly because most cars have their batteries in the front, which would be a long way to run the ground wire. We are lucky and don't have to spend much on wiring!

except when your like me and are puting in a 140amp alternator. Time to run new power wire to the rear.

so you guys are saying that using the battery ground isnt a problem?

not a problem at all. But take it form someone that knows car stereo wiring.. Upgrade the wire from the ground of your battery to the chassis. Also upgrade the alternator case to chassis wire.

wat gauge wire should I upgrade to?

Really for what you are doing, i think 2 guage would be plenty enough. Just let like a foot of it at your local car audio store..
