I was told that this is leaking on our 2000 C280. Anyone know what it is called and if it can be replaced without spilling fluid? Thanks, Mark

Is it a round plug that has a few pins inside ?

I just replaced mine, you end up spilling some fluid (less then 1qrt.) and the plug "Spacer" i think its called is around $15. very easy to replace, always a problem with ATs.

I don't know what it looks like, hell I haven't even seen our transmission before, lol. You got a P/N or idea of what it might be named. I couldn't find it on the benzbin.com.

I couldn't find a sensor, I looked for a while, maybe this has to do with the 2000 triptronic? -Mark

I think your talking about the connector that plugs into the "100 ELECTRONIC-HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT" but its not in the diagram anywhere.

I have one at work Ill take a picture of it. if you got to the dealer and explain what it is he will give you the exact part its always the part that leaks on AT trannys and the dealers usually sell a few of them each day.

Ill get a pic for you next week.

nice! Thanks for your help, they want $265 to replace it. I figure I can do it easily along with the rear brakes and bleeding them. I am a little bit less sure about doing the front wheel bearings and control arm bushings. Do I need to take them off the car and press them is my wonder. I might just go buy a press, i guess...

If this is what you're talking about, my mechanic told me this is a typical problem with these transmission and if the oil seeps into the control unit, ruining it, we're looking at a very expensive repair.
One way to know if this is a problem is to check ATF. If it's going down, this leak point may be the problem.

Ive replaced this part myself, it only costs something like $9 and a qrt. of MB AT fluid is like $15ish.

takes 15 minutes to replace the connecter BUT ... Ive also had to replace the "100 ELECTRONIC-HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT" which requires more work and the unit itself is somewhere in $300 range + tranny service kit + oil.

I am pretty sure you guys have the leaking connecter problem, it has two O-rings that leak over time and the connecter plug needs to be replaced. very inexpensive I will even post a "How-To" tutorial the next time I do this kind of work.

tomarrow Ill post up some pictures :)

I really appreciate the p/n. I finally found someone willing to order it for me. www.buymbparts.com did it for me, they are limited quantities available, so they need to send MB my VIN! I think after asking other online sellers and getting a no, buymbparts.com has my business. Good customer response goes a long ways.
