My car failed emissions a few days ago because it had a P0410 code which is air pump related. I found a loos vacum line and put it back on. I disconnected the battery to see if after 100 miles or so it would come back. Well today after only 60 miles the cel comes on and the empty gas light starts flashing. I guess this could be as simple as a loose cap or one that doesn't seal well. Is the cap a dealer only item?

I had this problem too! I ended up getting a cheap $3 cap at the auto store 1 block from the test center and passed. Then I just used my original cap. Is there any danger using a cap that leaks air? I will be going to the stealership today to buy a part (cubby hole) and I'll ask them how much it cost.

Checked with the dealer and they wanted 35$ for it.
