View Full Version : Change trim style?
I have a 99 c280 sport and it has the stock fake cf interior trim. I really dont like the trim at all, and I am looking to replace it at a decent price.
Should I take it out and just paint it gloss black or is there somewhere any of you guys know of where I can get new trim (gloss black, brushed aluminum, anything but this).
Any help appreciated, I really need to ditch my trim! Thanks!
take them into a decent fabricator and have real CF ones produced;)

I dont like cf. I want either gloss black, brushed aluminum, or maybe even wood. Just not cf, I am not a ricer :D .
hmm i see, wood grain is avaliable.
I believe CF can look great in moderation and in the right place;)

hmm I don't understand how interior carbon fiber is rice? if it's used correctly it can look fine, not to mention the amount of euro's where carbon fiber is a large component.

You have a point but still i really dont like cf. I know its amazing for being light and strong, just I dont think it very nice as far as looks go.
Sure a lot of people will disagree with me, but around here there are lots and lots of people with civics that have huge fart-box exhausts and carbon fiber hoods and horrible body kits etc... So every time I look at cf now all I can think is UGLY CARBON FIBER HOOD WITH BAD EXHAUST!
But anyway, do any of you guys know any online retailers that sell trim for this car?
Oh yea and OCKlasse, check your pm.

You can also check the black brushed aluminium style on my car, the Esprit series, its my personal favorite of all i ve seen so far. Check the Greek merC thread even though its not clearly visible in any of the photos, just to get an idea. I will try to post a better pic of it if you re interested... Unfortunately I cant give you the part No, because its a pain in the ass to take em out... sorry. :bored:

I remember reading about this brushed aluminium in the esprit and I have never seen it! but now I remember driving an esprit and is it that nasty black plastic stuff? I thought there might have been an aluminium option that was rare but I think this is the stuff you are talking about:

That interior looks so plain..... I'd rather have the faux CF. Not really a fan of the wood trim either..

I was never a fan of carbon fiber but after having it in my vehicle, it kind of grew on me.... I would still prefer wood panels anyday. maybe rosewood or cocobolo

Look up "guilding" (spelling?)
Basically apply metal leaf, aluminum, gold, silver, etc...and clear coat over it. I've seen this done a couple times with interior trim and it gives a very interesting 3D crinkle like effect with the aluminum or silver. The clear coat will give you some good shine and a uniform, cleanable, smooth surface.
Probably less than $100.00 to do. It's easy also. The hardest part is doing a good job with the clear coat. If not go to an Auto Body shop for the spray.

Hi,
@ ron : Could you please tell me if your interior CF trims look like this :

And if it's the same, could you please give me your VIN# by PM ?
Because MBstealer wants me to give them a 202 VIN's with CF interior to be sure about the model before odering parts in Germany.
I only need the Ash tray and the little door trim of the Cup Holder, i have bought all other parts on ebay.de ;)
And BTW, if someone has the Part # of the trunk lid switch ?
Exactly this model (single switch), and not the facelift model, i mean, not the model that includes the 4th switches for Windows + Trunk lid + Mirrors adjust joystick.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Frenchy.
PS : My Elegance had Wood trims from factory ;)
