Third Brakelight melted...

There was a terrible smell inside the car, I inspected the engine, the transmission, the brakes but nothing! It smelled like my brake pads were on fire but I had barely touched the brake pedal...
Then the dashboard showed that a light was malfunctioning and I finally noticed the third brakelight was the source.

...I wanted to buy the whole part (Yellow support, bulb socket and bulb) but seems like they only sell the socket and the bulb and they both cost $7.something !
Does anyone have this part laying around their garage? lol...

Strange. Never heard of this before. Is the correct bulb in the socket?

Anyway, try your local junkyard though it may be better to get a new one if its about $7.

Well, the bulb looks like the one on the websites I've been to, and about the wattage, I cant see clearly since the bulb fused with the socket but Its something like: "H21W 12V"
The yellow support has that so I guess a 21 Watt bulb is the correct one.

I do have one .... but its mounted upsidedown in my trunk as a very bright red trunk light.

you should search 3rd brake light nd you can find better ideas anyway.

actually, its a very common thing on benzes, mostly between the years of 88-98.
