Im thinking about bidding on a set of used springs for my c280. The eibach site says the part number is 2545.140. The seller says the box has that part number. But inside the box, 2 springs have 2545 while another two are stamped 2544. Are they mismatched?

hmmm,my kit for the 4banger is 2544.140...
they may use a commen spring for the rear in the 202,and change the front depending on engine size etc hence your two different part numbers.

is the 2544 the rear spring?

Yea, i think they are for the rear. On the pic of the springs the number is 2544.002. 002 indicates the rear springs, right?

If you are talking about the Eibach pro-kit on E-bay, they are my springs. A friend is listing them for me. They came off my 97 C280 and worked great. They will also fit C36. I sold my car last summer and removed them. I'm not sure why they have different part numbers on the front and back, but I'm sure they use the rear springs on different models of cars. The front springs may be unique to the C280 and C36 because of wieght, ride height and spring rate.

Also, the reserve is set at $100.

Somewhere along the line these springs have been swapped.

The Eibach 2545.140 pro kit comes as a set of four springs with 1.2 inch lowering front / back.

The 2544.140 pro kit also comes as a set of 4 springs and lowers 1.7 inch in the front and 1.8 inch in the back.

I just won the auction for a very good price. DRM, are you saying i just purchased mix matched springs??

If two of the springs are 2545 and two are 2544 then yes you did. I don't know the ramifications of this but if you are going to use them I would get thicker spring pads to go on the 2544 springs, and thinner spring pads to go on the 2545 springs.

So I think #1 pad for the 2545 and maybe #4 pad for the 2544 springs to compensate for the .5 - .6 inch difference.

These are the pad part numbers, use the W210 part numbers:

Also, someone on here double stacked their spring pads, so you might experiment with this. It will look weird with the rear lower than the front or vice versa.

Did you have to use thicker pads above the 2544 springs? Or did both part numbers lower the front and rear about about the same amount?

Taimyshukah, I didn't use any spring other spring pads, but the springs that my friend is selling for me still have two days left on the auction. They end Jan 23, the listing number is 160075041036 .

I sold my car last summer but I still check this website atleast once a week because of the good info on it. Good luck with your car.

Just for future reference:

I called up Eibach customer representative and asked about the "mix-matched" springs. He said that the 2545.140 pro-kit set comes in 2 different pairs like that from the factory. The 2545 set goes in the front while the 2544 set goes in the back.
