A friend of mine who has a 202 with a non-bose system wants to install something he heard of called BASS BLOCKERS. They are available through Crutchfield.
He wants to know if the speakers already in stock form are playing full range or are limited crossedover to a certain frequency. He said the most distortion is the back door ones. Hes also using a sub and the stock deck for now.
How do these install? Im curious myself and what woudl they do for my BOSE system?

solder them in - they "block" out the bass frequencies. they are great if used correctly.
they come in different hz ranges, so you ought to know what your goal is before getting these.
for instance, you can run bass blockers on you door speakers and crank the bass all the way up so that your subs thump but you don't blow your door speakers up.

Thats pretty neat because this the problem he has. The stock system has NO MIDRANGE so you go your sub pounding and decent highs and no middle range.
Would the bass blockers with the bass cranked and not allowing them to distort, give it a richer midbass undistorted sound?

As long as you choose the right crossover point. I think something about 180-200 might work.

You can just go to your local electronics store (Fry's, Radio Shack, etc.) and get a capacitor. You can calculate the size on this website
