hey boys,
look at this find...

Talk about a heck of a deal on high flow metalic cats. These are identical to the high flow kleenman cats, slightly different casing and etc without the fancy brand name. Talk about a steal . These cats will be able to withstand the extra heat on the "header hugger" cats much more so than ceramic..... I may end up doing cats after all . These would be great for those of you that plan to do headers

Would these throw a light of any kind? Do I just need one? Does anyone know if my car needs the 2.25" (C230 N/A)?

I'm not sure, never looked underneath a 230 before. No they would not throw off check engines but they would definitely help thats for sure. These can take alot more abuse than the ceramic cats that are availible for $37 on ebay. they are more $$ but compared to most aftermarket metalic cats these are a steal. They are not the most free flowing metalic cats i've seen (Vibrant cats may flow even better) but still these will probably still greatly improve perforamnce. just cut out old ones and slap these in. hope that helps

the flow of your intake and exhaust is only as good as its most narrow point, and the catalytic converter provides a big obstruction for the path of air coming from the engine. with fewer cells and less metal in the path of the exhaust gasses, the aspiration of the car improves, thus improving power output. can't answer the cell count question.

Would we still be able to pass inspection?

it SHOULDN'T throw a code, and it SHOULDN'T fail emissions (because they just plug into OBDII anyway), but there's no way of telling, given how sensitive the sensors on mercedes are. I figure something will go wrong.

Not all states have just OBDII emissions testing. Some still use old school tailpipe emissions testing. WA is not one of them!

is there anyway I can install these, and use clamps instead of welding it, so I can take them off when smog time does come around? oh F-it...I am just going to get these...

Do not clamp, you have to weld b/c then air leaks can occur with clamps. Make sure they do a full high quality weld bead all the way arround. Either 3 of those should be a good solution and should generate decent flow as well as improve sound.
these will not set off check engine. Only way for you to get close to that threshold is just run open straight pipes, then it will see that there is a big difference in the values. even 100 cell probably wouldn't throw CE.

alright good...so does anyone know if the 2.25" piping size would work for a 230 NA (the exhaust piping is 2.25", but I am just making sure)
