I bought my car used, may 06 and never got the CD code. Where/How can I find this mystery "code"?
Can the dealer tell me? Can any MB employees on the forum find it for me? Are there any MB employees on the forum?

Anyhow, I think I'll be trading my car in pretty soon, so I'll wan't to pull out the system and put the stocker back in.

TIA

Give any stealership parts department a call. Give them your VIN number and they should be able to give it to u.

And also what kind of car is it and why are you selling it

just out of curiosity, what does the radio code do besides make the radio/CD player unusable? is it just so people dont steal the radio unit?

Yep if any power is lost the raido gos into safe mode and a code is needed to use it again. Another thing i see you have a 99 c280 sport and I was woundering does your gauge cluster have a white background and if so what color do thay light up when the head lights are on. Because i have a 1999 C280 non-sport and i want to put the white gauges in.

There is a key generator for MB stereos that you can download from the net. It required a bit torrent downloading setup though. You have to wonder about viruses and stuff though, so I would just try the dealer instead.

At night with the lights on, the gauges look black. Though all numbers are orange interior light color.

yeah, i really like that about the car, it's a nice little detail. they look like normal gauges at night, but are white-faced in the day.

anyhow, it's a 99 c280 sport, and it's going up in the classifieds and craigslist today. i guess i'll try the other benz forums as well, i have never really posted there but i'm registered.

i'm craving something along the lines of 500-600hp/800+tq.

Nelson Lago - ya like dennis said the background is white, during the night you cant really tell as it just looks dark and the lights are the same yellow-orange.

if your going to put in the white background i might recommend adding a carbon fiber gauge back ground as well. Im sure others might know which website as i forgot but its C/F that fits around the gauges instead of the regular black plastic.

btw rman, ur c280 is really nice some one is gunna jump on that. what next car do you have in mind?
