My wife has complained for a while about a noise from our 98 C230. I recently did front wheel bearings and a ball joint because it needed them. I took it today because she said it was making noise again. When going 5 to 10 mph there is a noticeabls squeak from the left rear wheel. When going faster the sound goes away. Car has 104k miles on it. I will check out the wheel this weekend to see if it could be the rear wheel bearing. Does this sound like the bearing or could it be something else?

I would also check for brake parts that are dragging and that the emergency brake is adjusted correctly and not sticking.

How would I determine if brake parts are dragging?

Curious.

I'm having a similar problem on my 94 C280 with 185k miles. Rear right wheel. Doesn't squeek all the time. I've found that when the outside temp is cold it doesn't squeek. It squeeks from 5mph until about 40mph. It's sooooo annoying.

I've got new pads on the rear but original rotors. I'm suspicious it's got nothing to do with the brakes... I pray it's not a wheel bearing. How difficult is that to replace?
